Notice of Violation
I have lived in the City of Montebello for 41 years. I have seen this city grow so much in so many different ways. Recently the parking situation has gotten OUT OF CONTROL!!! We have so many cars and very little room to park them in. Our street used to be quiet and parking was plentiful.
The City of Montebello like many other cities has exploded with the adoption of building ADUs, however those ADUs don't include parking. According to the city, ADUs are allowed without requiring parking in order to encourage people to use public transportation. The problem is that people are not using public transportation, they want their own vehicle to be able to do shopping, run errands, and make doctor visits all in one day, which public transit can't provide. Our parking situation has grown not only due to more residents but also our young people wanting to have their own cars, motorcycles, or big 4 x 4 trucks. All those vehicles have made our streets congested with cars parked on curbs, so close to corners of streets that you can hardly make a right turn on some of our more narrow streets. I drive down streets and I almost have to zigzag due to so many cars being double parked. When running the cars are parked halfway into the side and I have to run on the street. How safe is that for a senior citizen that loves to run? The City of Montebello has sent me a notice of violation because I chose to have beautiful pavers instead of grass on my property. Wasn't it not too long ago that we were in water crises? During this time we were not able to water our grass in order to conserve water, so I chose to let my lawn go dry. What I don't understand is why we can't park vehicles on the pavers if we choose to do so? After all, I paid for them to be installed and they make my yard look nice and neat. I also don't have to water the lawn so I have chosen to conserve water.
City of Montebello official Alexys Razana wake-up!! Please be advised that many Montebello citizens have extended driveways to park their vehicles, use pavers instead of grass and park their vehicles on their lawns or pavers in their front yard. Your city municipal codes need to be updated as our city grows with ADUs and the outrageous parking situations that are everywhere in most cities. Furthermore, being close to East Los Angeles our street cleaning days are unmanageable, our parking situation is even worse on those days! Please focus on the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWrites parking tickets on streets missing street sweeping signs. Makes it impossible to contest for anyone who doesn't live there. Judging by how many tickets the parking enforcement was handing out Id guess its done on purpose to generate extra revenue. Most expensive sweeper ticket ever seen to boot. You'd think with all that income they would pave the decrepit streets and furnish each street with proper signage. I actually switched jobs just to not have to deal with this broke city. Say goodbye to my...
