Montebello Library — Attraction in Montebello

I just learned that the library will be open on Fridays and Mondays again, which is good news. As for their own library collection, I haven't had much luck, except kids books which are great, however it is FREE to request materials of any kind from other libraries, rent DVDs, and fines are low. You can return any library materials from the LA County system here.They hold stuff for you for two weeks. Fines can also be paid online. All in all, it is a good library due to this, where other libraries like Whittier library, charge for lots of this stuff. plus, there are tons of events for all ages but more so kids, and reading programs for all ages with great incentives. Recently just did the In-N-Out challenge, kids read five books get a hamburger or cheeseburger free. You can do this up to three times. This is great for reluctant readers! The old man at the desk is unbelievably grouchy and difficult to deal with. I lost my library card during a move and was very clear that it was truly gone, I never loose things so if I KNOW something us gone - it truly is. The man refused to replace my card saying that I just have to look better. I keep telling him that there's nowhere else to look and he still sends me home without a new card. Apparently this guy is so well known for being an absolute grump that even personel at other libraries know about him. Anyway, I still give this place 5 stars because I like everything else about it. The Network Admin either for the County, or the person in charge of the computer network is doing a Horrible job, the computers are always going down very frequently, and no one ever even has an estimate of when they will be back online. Staff is very laid back about enforcing general rules like noise, and loud talking and more than one person at a computer station. Staff is very indifferent to the customers requests regarding noise...the staff behind the counter at the check out area like to chit chat about their personal lives endlessly...there used to be a worker who would walk around the computer area to make sure people were following all the rules, now...
