Remedy Spa — Attraction in Monterey

My experience was not good. I went to Remedy Spa to consult with Melissa about the area under my eyes that bothered me and made me look tired. Melissa recommended a filler for the area. After numbing the areas, she administered injections under one of my eyes followed by a painful “massaging” of the area which felt uncomfortable. I asked if the massaging process was going to leave bruising, to wit, she replied “no, it’s part of the process, etc”. I asked her to stop so I could see what was happening. When I looked in the mirror, the area she injected was puffy and showed signed of bruising. Long story short, Melissa and I had a conversation wherein she asked me the strangest question “do you trust me?”. I wasn’t sure how to answer the question as I just met her for the first time 30m prior to the injection and she is, after all, the more qualified person in the room. Melissa stated several more things such as “I know what I’m doing and this is just the process. This is why i don”t let people look during the process. I’m not done. Let’s stop now. I agree it doesn’t look right. It’s [the swelling and bruising] normal. Wait a week, the swelling will go away.” And the reassuring statement: “it’s reversible.” The end result was beyond bad. Huge, hard lumps under my eyes.I waited about two weeks for the swelling to go down. In the meantime, people I know asked what happened?! I looked like I had been punched in the eyes. So embarrassing. I returned to Melissa and she injected the area to reverse the damage after which she stated that it won’t completely dissolve everything. (Contrary to her original claim that it’s reversible.) I wrote this review because people need to be warned about Melissa’s level of competence in this area of the face. I have been seeing Melissa for years now (from even before Remedy Spa) and she is a master injector. I've been getting Botox for many years - since it became approved in the US in 2002, if you can believe it! - so I have had many different injectors over the years with different styles and techniques. Melissa is hands down the most experienced, artful, thoughtful, and effective injector I have ever worked with. She is a true artist!

Melissa is also amazing with filler; she can do advanced techniques and is incredibly precise. I particularly like her work with my chin, nasolabial folds, and lips (which are more subtle, which is perfect for my face, genetics, etc. - Melissa really listens and doesn't insist on pumping you full of filler if you prefer more delicate work).

I can't speak on lasers or other services at Remedy as I tend to concentrate on injectables, but if you need Botox or filler I HIGHLY recommend Remedy!!!

*Also, everyone at Remedy is caring and loving toward their patients. At one point a couple of years ago I had become ill with a lingering case of pneumonia and a cracked rib from all the coughing, and they made sure I got red light therapy and other helpful services to boost the immune system. I also recently had a tummy tuck, and when I came in for Botox Bella made sure I got right into a private room as I was still hobbling around and didn't want to be seen in public.
