R G Burgers — Restaurant in Monterey

Had the cheeseburger, milkshake and mac and cheese.

Service was better than average, food was ready fast. Got it to go so can’t speak on sit down experience.

Cheeseburger: very fresh, tasty and made with high quality ingredients. Bun was spectacular. Maybe a little dry in the meat as well but totally acceptable. Only thing missing was it was not seasoned nearly enough! High potential but just lacking salt.

Milkshake: delicious! Fantastic milkshake, got the strawberry banana shake, tasted strongly of fresh strawberries and banana. Only complaint is the straw was too small for the chunks of strawberry but overall this milkshake was killer.

Mac n cheese: good Mac not great, biggest issue was again lack of seasoning. Tastes like they put about 40% as much salt as they should have. Sauce is slightly watery, but not bad. Cheese on top is always a nice touch.

Don't waste your time and especially your hard earned cash for a basic burger that is so far overpriced, I think they use that to make you feel the burgers are a lot better than they are. They are not. Reeeealy thin patties with no flavor. My basic bacon cheeseburger was $17.95 plus $2.25 to upgrade to onion rings, and there were only 5 rings. So $20.20 for a run of the mill hamburger with rings!

Then, they give you about .5 ounces of ketchup. I kept having to ask for more, 3 different times. If you're going to charge that much for a basic burger, at least loosen your belt and put a bottle of ketchup on the table.

Lastly, when the handwritten bill came, it was so illegible that I couldn't make out how they arrived at their total or even what the total was. Lots of room for fraud when you operate your business like that. Two flavorless burgers, a 16oz beer, an iced tea, and upgraded frozen onion rings, over $55.00. Find yourself a drive-thru...

RG Burgers was one of my favorite places. Today, the day after Labor Day, was a real disappointment. Everything was off. The normally excellent fries were cold (we complained later and agree with the manager that we should have complained immediately). I ordered a turkey burger with mushrooms and cheese; the mushrooms were canned (they were fresh the last time!) and the bun was not whole wheat as I had ordered. My wife ordered a turkey burger with mushrooms; she got a cheeseburger with mushrooms. I guess this could be her fault or the waiter's fault. Oh -- just checked the menu online -- the mushrooms burger specifies "fresh sauteed mushrooms" -- so why did we get canned mushrooms?! Disappointing. The manager did not really seem to care other than berating us for not telling them immediately what was wrong. He cut me off before I could explain how everything was off.
