Loved walking the trails at Loantaka Brook Reservation this Spring. We went on a Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of parking, handicap as well. The grounds, restrooms, playgrounds and trails were all well maintained. The trails were wide and offered both paved and unpaved and they had occasional benches along the way. The paved trail was mostly flat and wheelchair friendly. Everyone we encountered on the trails … on foot, cycle, horseback were all courteous of others. I especially liked that the wooded areas were somewhat cleared which allowed for beautiful views of nature and wildlife, as opposed to some other parks where the trails are narrow and densely covered feeling as though there’s nothing to see. Along the trails we passed a pond, bridges, streams and...

Just take a half hour for yourself walking the trails and walk it just for the singular sake of doing something without a reason. You will take in the natural surroundings and benefit from the atmosphere. Everyone gets along pretty well, everyone goes at their own pace. I was sadden to see the recently posted signs for locking up your cars and minding your belongings, where before that wasn't necessary. Still the park is lined with majestic trees, and sometimes the pond has swans. Overall very scenic and a much needed escape from...
Read moreThis is a really nice park to walk or bike. They have bike share kiosks at the South Street parking lot, Kitchell parking lot, and Loantaka Way parking lot. It's heavily used so you have to look out for strollers, joggers, dog walkers, and little kids. It's still a nice ride/walk and you're likely to see a variety of birds, ducks, geese, and cranes. They are used to human presence and you can usually get close enough to quietly observe/take pics (though I'm not dumb enough to try that with the geese). I've spotted some turtles and frogs, as well. The Kitchell parking lot is the best place to stop and relax with a nice pond and lots of tables...
