On September 3rd, 3am (I work 2nd shift) I realized that the payment for I item I had bought through paypal a week prior, had not run yet. I, realizing my account would go negative when it went through, checked my online balance, and as of 3:30 am sept 3rd, it was still $42. Since previous experience had shown me it is best to avoid US Bank atms if you want your check to clear quickly, I decided that since my account was not negative I could wait until the bank opened in the morning to make a deposit.
When I did go to US Bank the next morning, I found I had been charged overdraft fees for September 2nd. As my account, as september 3rd 3am, had not gone yet negative, I had an issue with this. I know I made an error, but I don't think it's right for the bank to run charges in a way that ensures your account doesn't show negative until it's too late to avoid overdraft fees. I asked to close my account. The bank teller went ahead and closed my account, and gave me the full balance of the account. The next week, I received notice of several overdraft fees on my "closed" account. It seems some online purchases went through on my account. I was aware I had made these purchases, but all my accounts at the websites had a credit card backing the bank account, and silly me, I thought a charge going to a closed bank account would bounce.
When I spoke to the manager about this, she stated the bank was obligated to pay the charges because they were authorized before the account was closed. Well, logically then, this leads to two possible conclusions. 1. US Bank is unaware of what charges they authorize. or 2. The teller was aware there were charges pending on my account, but went ahead and gave me back my full balance anyway. When I mentioned this to the manager, she stated it was my responsibility to keep track of what I purchase, the teller was under no obligation to check for pending charges, since I didn't ask, and she couldn't reverse charges on closed account.
So in summary, if you close your account at this bank, be sure to confirm you don't still have charges pending, probably best to get...
Read moreI was very dissatisfied with the service that I received from US Bank, during my last transaction. On Tuesday, I made a deposit, at the Mount Healthy Branch. This morning, I noticed that these funds were not showing on my account.
I called customer service and they also told me that they could not find the transaction. They transferred me to the Mount Healthy Branch and they told me the same thing. I then told them that I had both the deposit slip and the check stub from the transaction.
Unfortunately, they neglected to tell me that this was a problem that more than one customer had faced today. So even though I told them that I would be coming to the branch with my check stub and deposit slip, this was going to be a futile adventure. Apparently, they were unable to find the paperwork of one of the tellers. I even had to listen to a heated discussion by the tellers present regarding the whereabouts of the paperwork. After being told by one of the tellers that the bank manager could possibly deposit the funds into my account, I was then told that would not be possible.
To cap this off, I was then told that I could not cash another check because the other funds were not showing...
Read moreI'm a 19 year customer with the bank. This branch is one that needs some attention. The always seem to be understaffed. This was even before Covid. They have constant turn over which makes developing a relationship with my neighborhood branch difficult. I was here last Friday to find out they closed at 4pm. REALLY ON A FRIDAY? Then today decided to give this location another try. UGH. I get long lines especially during this time, but this wait border on insulting. If you want to come here you better allow an hour. USB get it together! I have relationships with both larger and smaller institutions and have used other locations recently at varying times. This location is not customary to the standards I'm used to from this company. The only reason I rated a 3 is because the staff...
