I have been trying to find a good nail salon in Belmont/Mount Holly for months now. Finally I found the one! This was my first time at Brown Shugah and it wonât be my last. I was able to book online which was super easy and I appreciated being able to do that instead of having to call. I got a gel mani and a gel pedi when I went. Iâll break my review down into a few different segments: atmosphere, services, prices. 1. Atmosphere: walking in, the salon was decorated beautifully and gave off a cozy vibe. The owner Renee greeted me right away and helped me pick my color. Renee interacted with every single customer and made sure everyone was well taken care of. She also was cleaning the salon which was wonderful to see. I canât even remember the last time I saw an owner of a salon cleaning to make sure everything was sanitized and ready to go. You can tell she takes great pride in Brown Shugah. And all the nail techs do as well! Every single one of them were chatting with customers, laughing, and seemed to genuinely love their job. Every other customer there while I was there was a regular and I can see why! Brown Shugah gave off âwhen youâre here youâre familyâ vibes and it was truly a breath of fresh air. 2. Services: I got a gel mani and gel pedi. First off, this salon includes gel polish in their pedicure. How genius is that? No more paying extra for the gel polish! I was thrilled when I learned this. Secondly, my pedicure was so relaxing and Maya really took her time to make sure it was done right. I loved that you get a massage with the scrub. That was probably my favorite part of the pedicure. Lastly, my manicure came out equally as beautiful. I could tell Maya was super skilled and I have a feeling this gel polish will actually last on my fingers as opposed to other salons where itâs begun to peel or chip off after close to a week. 3. Prices: on Tuesdays and Wednesdays manicures and pedicures are $30 each which is a steal, especially factoring that gel polish was used for both services. I wonât mind paying full price here though because the services were excellent and the gel polish is included in the pedicure. Itâs well worth the money, in my opinion. Bottom line: Brown Shugah is the nail salon to go to if youâre in the Belmont/Mount Holly/Charlotte area! I canât wait to...
Read moreI hate to give them a bad review, but I have to be honest about my experience. The first time I went a received a pedicure I noticed that they had filed my toenails pretty thin. I had only gotten gel on my times one time before so I figured this was something that needed to get the gel to adhere better. The second time I went it was much worst. I even told the first nail tech that I could feel everything she was doing to my nails and how sensitive my nails felt. She went and switched to another file, which I think made it worst. As she continued the service I noticed that two of my nails now had red bruises underneath my nail bed. She then asked had my nails always been this thin and showed me how thin they were. The 2nd nail person to come over and polish my nails even made mention that my nails had been over filed.
At this point, I asked should I even continue with the service. I was so sad. She informed me that I should still get the gel polish as it may help bring strength back to my nails, and that they had a gel remover solution that I could use next time. She said I definitely shouldnât let anyone file my toenails anymore. I continued my services, and even got my dip manicure. I felt a little bit better, but then a few days later I had to wear heels and my toes felt like they were on fire. I had looked up how my bruises looked and the internet called them ârings of fireâ bruises. They had been caused by the filing.
I hated to leave a negative review. I hope it can be a moment of growth for this new business. Itâs not about the mistake/issue that was made but how they correct the issue that makes a strong business,...
Read moreMy Girlfriend made an appointment with the tech who does designs and so when she arrived onto her appointment âRenneâ the owner had told my girlfriend that it will be a wait because she is the only one experience in doing designs, mind you itâs okay that, that nail tech is the only one who knows how to do that design but I feel like my girlfriend shouldnât have to wait no more than 10 mins when her appointment was at 1:00 PM. I use to work in clientele business and I think that the Owner should have some sense in adding more booking options to where you can book if youâre getting designs too that way when you arrive onto your appointment you can have the tech you want instead of waiting. Another thing I have to say is that the Brown Shugah booking site is false advertisement, my girlfriend also booked to get a pedi done with the design tech and did not get her for her pedi and instead she got another tech. On the Brown Shugah website it STATES that the design tech specializes in acrylic, mani and pedis but yet Renne says she only does pedi on slow days but not on busy days which makes no sense. Another false advertisement is that they DO NOT take WALK INS but still do. Overall my girlfriend was satisfied with her service but not with the waiting time. One last thing I have to say is that it is very disgusting and filthy to have one of her tech to be coughing in-front of customers and not covering her mouth and she does...
