The Gathering Place — Attraction in Mount Joy

My husband and I were married here on October 3, 2015. We had the absolute best experience. We had about 220 people at the wedding which the main dining room fit comfortably. The Gathering Place provided us with floor plans that we could choose from that fit our amount of guests. It ended up raining, so instead of having the wedding outside (at the garden on the pine), we moved inside. The inside area was easily adjusted to make room for the ceremony. The fireplace and lighting made a beautiful atmosphere for pictures. I was very happy with how ours turned out. I had a large wedding party, 16 total (8 men and 8 women). We were able to fit everyone across the front of the room despite the size.

Joanne was extremely knowledgeable when it came to planning the wedding. I did not hire a wedding planner. My family and I did most of the work and Joanne gave great advice regarding the small details of the planning, I know this came from the numerous prior experiences that she has had. The Gathering Place was very flexible at making changes when needed and the overall service before, during, and after was impeccable.

I had already loved the food before we picked the meals for the wedding, so I knew it would be delicious. The food tastes homemade and is always fresh. Joanne is also a talented baker and made my beautiful white cake for the wedding. This was nice because I didn't have to worry about having a cake transported to the venue.

Everything went so well. The location was beautiful. The food was amazing. The comments from guests were either about the delicious food or the kind and attentive staff. Our ceremony was in the garden and the Pinkertons (who are the owners) added a table of water and juices to the patio to aid in everyone's heat tolerance. Joanne's cake was unbelievable in design and taste! They also were attentive to the dietary needs of my guests and worked with us to create a menu that would accommodate everyone. The best part about working with the Gathering Place is that they are experienced and established, so they had suggestions and protocols but were also extremely flexible and open to new ideas. They laid out every cost and procedure very clearly so there were no surprises. They also know many other vendors in the area and gave helpful suggestions when asked. I wish I could add a picture of the cake Joanne created. The design was so detailed and original and the taste far surpassed what we would have gotten from a fancy-pants bakery. Today was our daughter’s christening celebration. My husband and I are so happy to have chosen The Gathering Place for the luncheon. Everything was just perfect for our small group and so was the price! Joanne was great in responding to our questions and providing information for us to review. When she talked with my husband about tables and arrangements, she even thought to ask us if we wanted pink napkins, which we didn’t think about, and that little attention to detail really helped to make the luncheon feel all that more special.
