Pax Amicus Castle Theatre — Attraction in Mount Olive

Pax Amicus Castle Theatre in Budd Lake is a special kind of charm—my absolute favorite spot to take anyone visiting from out of town. Walking in, you immediately feel the storybook magic of a medieval castle right by the lake—such a fun and unique experience to share with friends and family.

They have a year-round lineup of Broadway and off-Broadway revivals, Shakespeare, Poe adaptations, children’s shows, and unique performances like one-person plays—it’s always something fresh and impressive.

What I love most is the community vibe—it’s cozy, welcoming, and full of heart. The seats might be snug and close together, but the energy from the cast and the crowd more than makes up for it. I’ve laughed, learned, and even teared up here—whether it’s watching a playful kids’ show or a heartfelt revival.

I went for field trip for Edgar Allen Poe. The show was great, all the actors did an amazing job. The snack booth was at nice reasonable price both food and drinks. A total bonus is that the view outside is gorgeous. I'd say the only downside is that in the theater it's really cold up in the room where the show is held.
