My fiancé and I purchased our first home together about a year and a half ago and by "together", I mean I took out the mortgage loan myself because her credit was too poor for her to be included. As we moved in, we upgraded most of our furniture and purchased two new sofas, a king-sized bed, two dressers, a dining room table and chairs and this stupid expensive bench/storage thing for the entry way. Three months ago we split up and she moves out and takes everything except one dresser and that stupid bench/storage thing. So I went to the furniture store on South Main and met with a nice guy named Chuck who took pity on me once I explained my situation. We found a bed to match the remaining dresser and the mattress on this bed is so soft I feel like I’m being cradled in the hand of the stay puff marshmallow man. For the living room I got a recliner and reclining sofa both with “comfort coil seating featuring comfort-gel” I have no idea what that is but now my backside asks me to sit down and watch all three extended versions of Lord of the Rings without a break! For the dining room I went with a simple wood table and chairs. I was surprised how inexpensive it was for real hard wood, it made me briefly wonder if this place deals with some kind of mafia wood organization (of course I know that is ridiculous, everyone knows the organized hard wood trade is controlled by cartels). Anyway I’m giving this place a five star review, couldn’t beat the prices, the furniture is comfortable and looks great, Chuck was a friendly guy, even seemed like he would be a friendly guy if he weren’t making commission. My only complaint is that Chuck/the store didn’t want to buy the stupid expensive storage/bench thing my...
Read moreMy father and his girlfriend bought me a new bed as a surprise. It was hard as a rock so I upgraded to a pillow top mattress. I received a $50 discount for swapping mattresses only, not including the matching box spring. That new one wasn't as soft as the display mattress in the store so I traded the new one for the store display mattress only. So now I have a used mattress from the store with a non matching box spring so my warranty is void from the factory. Meanwhile, I have slept on this mattress for two months and not only is it still hard and my back hurts but the bed squeaks every time I move. I can't imagine sleeping on this bed for 10 years when it's only 2 months old. I researched online and half the company's want you to sleep on it at least 30 days before they will refund the money to give you a chance to get used to the mattress. The typical time frame for refunds is 30 to 90 days. Beds bought online have practically no problem with refunds. It's mainly up to the owner. Considering I ended up with a used mattress and a non matching boxspring, I don't see where it would hurt him to refund my money, and my dad's and his girlfriends. After all, as the owner said, we're talking about a cheap bed. We're talking about $400, not $1,300. And it's used when I bought it! Remember we're talking two months versus 10 years...
