Mountain House Branch Library — Attraction in Mountain House

The worst experience in my life in this library. I went in for a library card. I showed the worker my drive license photo in my phone. The staff told me I needed an update address drive license or other document can proof my name and current address on it since I moved in Mountain House. I called my husband . He texted me a document with my name and current address on it. The other worker came said no must give her physical drive license, can’t be photo in phone. I asked why she said no reason this is her library policy with very bad attitude. I asked to talk library manager she said manager on vacation.

I said give the phone number I can call the office to ask why to have a library card must need present physical drive license. She gave me a phone number I called in front of her the number does not work. I asked why phone did not work she said she didn’t want to answer. She asked me to library website. Bad service, bad attitude, discouraging people, students to borrow books...

Library is beautiful. The staff is consistently terrible with children and unkind towards mothers doing their best to bring children here at an early age to learn a love of reading. It’s a shame to have this finally open in walking distance from my home and still feel like we have to drive to Livermore to not be spoken to harshly. Many parents are trying their best to teach young children appropriate behaviors and if the librarian needs to remind kids of the library rules, there is a way to do it without being condescending to other adults who are already in the process of doing just that. If you don’t want kids in the library don’t have a childrens section in the back that kids have to walk through everything...

When I signed up for library card I was told there are no late fees for returning kids books late.. they have charged me for not returning one of the books after second reminder and marked book as LOST. They informed me it will go to collections if fines are not paid. They have charged my account for another book as damaged ( pencil scribble marks on one of the pages ) Around $35 files for 2 books. I am not sure if book was already damaged when we borrowed it. Don’t borrow more books than you need from this library. Also, do check every book you borrow for any existing damages.
