Classic Spa — Attraction in Mountainside

Massage lady leaded me into the room and asked me to take off my clothes and then put on a blanket. Not even a minute later she asked if I was ready and I said no and then she barges in while I was in the middle of taking off my clothes, rushed me, and almost refused to leave claiming she would just help me and kept telling me to just take of my shirt and she would lay the blanket on me.

I kept having to tell her to leave the room so I could finish undressing and then I would put the blanket on myself and she could come in, like how it usually is at every massage place I’ve ever been. When I finally got her to leave she kept asking after not even a minute and barely giving me enough time to get my clothes off and put them away in my bag. So from the start it was not a relaxing environment at all it was stressful and off putting. It was so uncomfortable.

Then I heard her set an alarm timer that I anticipated the entire massage and when it went off I was actually relieved it was finally over because it was not thorough or enjoyable. As soon as it started I was waiting for it to end. Usually after a massage I feel lighter and refreshed but I actually feel more stressed and just frustrated. It was not thorough and not consistent.

She also at one point pulled my underwear all the way down without warning which was startling and then used hot stones without warning or even asking and I’m not really fond of hot stones so it was really not enjoyable.

As soon as I walked out of the room she was standing outside the door and had her hand out , to ask for her tip. I still hadn’t even finished paying for my service. Then a woman checked me out and kept asking me if I liked it and when I said it was okay she kept asking why I didn’t like it and at that point I just wanted to get out of there. They kept talking to each other in a foreign language and laughing and overall I just felt unwelcome and disrespected. I genuinely felt violated and I have never felt that way with any massage. THE BEST MASSAGE in a very long time (maybe ever). I was able to book a 60 minute Deep Tissue Massage on short notice, for a Tuesday morning. The Spa was clean and smelled fresh. There was ample parking (be careful though, it's only 1 hour parking). The lady who met me was extremely kind and gracious and also the person to do the massage. She confirmed I was ok with deep tissue and encouraged me to let her know if I needed a lighter or deeper touch (it was perfect!). She was very thorough and paid extra attention to tight knots by my shoulder blades and a sore lower back. It felt amazing. Regarding other comments I read, I want to say that no one tried to upsell me on anything, no one asked or a tip. There is a small sign at the counter suggesting the amount to tip per your service, which I find nothing wrong with. The customer service was superb. Lastly, I used a Groupon. I would give them 0 stars if I could. I booked a massage with a Groupon for my birthday and mentioned on the phone that I was pregnant and the woman scheduling the appointment said no problem over and over. I walked in the door, said I had an appointment, and she looked at me and said no no no, we don't do that. And proceeded to tell me that they don't give massages to pregnant women because it's a risk and that I didn't tell her I was pregnant when scheduling the appointment. (I did, as I had just ran into another issue getting a facial elsewhere where considerations for a pregnant woman were not understood). Instead of offering something to make up for her mistake, she suggested that I gift the Groupon to someone else and that I should have told her I was pregnant. I asked if I could turn on my side and she said no and continued to make more excuses and claim that I didn't tell her.
