Peak Sports Academy — Attraction in Mountainside

I’m not usually one to write reviews, but that’s how you know this experience was truly genuine. I had to share!

My son had an incredible season with Peak Sports Academy. The coaching staff, especially Coach JB, stood out for their exceptional decision-making and dedication to player development. Coach JB has an elite basketball IQ and a remarkable ability to put players in the best position to succeed, all while keeping the game fun, competitive, and intense!

The emphasis on skill development in practice was second to none. The coaches provided personalized feedback, pushed the boys to reach their full potential, and fostered an environment where growth was inevitable.

What I truly appreciated was the level of competition we faced. The program prioritized real development over empty stats, challenging the team with high-level opponents to build resilience and elevate their game. That kind of competitive adversity is what molds players into true athletes.

From Coach JB to Coach Greg, my son had an amazing experience and spoke highly of all of them. Their strategic insights, passion, and commitment to player growth made this season unforgettable.

We had my daughters 10th birthday party here as she is just really getting into basketball. The facility is absolutely beautiful. Even the parking lot is beautifully landscaped with pavers everywhere. We had 9 kids and it was a mix of those with basketball experience and some with 0. The coach did an awesome job with the kids! They all had a great time! The party room upstairs is huge and the pizza is from Westfield and had several comments about it being really good pizza! The best part of the party was Blaze the party “helper”- an awesome kid who is an AAU volunteer. He went above and beyond to make sure the kids had fun and anything I needed he was there! This is a really great place for your kid if they want to do something different for their birthday and they enjoy basketball!! We are also looking into getting my daughter into some clinics they run as we were impressed with the coaches and overall staff....

My son has been playing with John McGuire for many years, some preceding this new facility. I can’t express how impactful John’s coaching has been. He takes the time to get to know his players and work with them at expanding their personal best. He is kind, honest and extremely knowledgeable. He can suggest a subtle modification that changes everything because his experience allows him to see where the room for growth lies. I have seen my son transform his game while training at Peak. In regards to the other staff and facility itself, they are by far the best I have ever seen in the area. Always meticulously clean with upbeat music to motivate the kids to want to play.
