Our driver was a friendly, nice guy and willing to take us anywhere we asked. Unfortunately he was not so well versed in the best ways to get around. Therefore taking us on a route that took a half hour longer than it should have to get to Napa. The route he took us on also went directly thru the mountains which made several of our passengers sick with all the curvy windy roads and took much longer to drive. We all knew this because we had GPS it on our phones, but he insisted going thru the mountains was the quickest. On the way back we told him a better way to go and we were back home in half the time and no one was car sick. Also, he talked with our group the entire time we were in the car, telling us jokes, which got very old after many hours in the car with him and also seemed to be a distraction to his driving. We really weren't looking for entertainment from our driver and his interaction got to be a little annoying. At the end of the day, we all arrived home safely, but frustrated that he didn't know his way around better.
When I called Champy the broker for this company of drivers, he was NOT helpful, infact he was DISMISSIVE, DEFENSIVE and ARGUMENTATIVE. There are many drivers in Napa and I used this company because it had a high rating, which I am not sure how they got after going thru this experience. The experience with Champ was almost worse than the one with our driver. Read moreIf I could give this company 0 stars I would. My boyfriend and I are coming up to Napa for the first time ever and we were calling around getting prices for different driver services. They told us that if they wanted the driver to drive our car, it would be $25/hour. As we are flying into SF the day before and driving up the morning of, they said they would not be able to drive our car because they weren't on the contract. That is totally fine - I respect a company that does things by the books. The entire time I was on the phone with the driver he was rude, interrupted me constantly while I was talking, unwilling to answer my questions. I asked him if there is any way we could get a better rate than $50/hour (which is double what it would cost for them to drive our rental car). I asked very nicely if any cheaper rates were at all possible AND HE HUNG UP ON ME. I understand that maybe they can't do anything about their prices but I was shopping around to make sure I wasn't overpaying and he just lost us as a customer. With over 400 local wineries and multiple tasting options, I was immediately overwhelmed when trying to plan a couple of days to do this. 1 call to Champie and my anxiety was immediately relieved. Champie asked a couple of questions, and then paired us with a fabulous driver, Phillip. For the next 36 hours Phillip and I went back and forth by text, some questions, some updates, but all to ensure he got his part of the planning right for me. And he did. Day of trip he arrived on time, in a clean and spacious car, just like the one Champie told me I’d get. Conversation with Phillip was never forced, never pretentious and always honest. He was great.
