Gate City previously Boston Billiards Casino ( not sure why the name change so fast after opening) is a very decent casino after adding more slot machines. I am a little unsure about one thing though. So I had the very nice girl at the players club upgrade my card to Black Diamond as they do that for you if you have the highest card from other casinos like in my case Mohegan Sun with the Soar card. Anyways I looked at what was offered to me with the card and 2 nights I believe it was at a casino they are partnered with not sure how it works really part of the lucky North Club maybe . I know that the cards are identical as far as looks goes and I believe levels too that's not important what was important is while traveling to Ohio I because a casino that I had been to in the past called Wheeling Island which is actually in West Virginia I went to their front desk and talk to the Players Club and they were denying any partnership with Gate City they had never heard of it I told them they were mistaken I was sure and not really needing a room I continued on my way back to Massachusetts. When I got back to Massachusetts and visited Gate City again I mentioned to the girl at The Players Club that I had been to Wheeling islands and they denied having any relationship with Gate City and that they wouldn't let me stay there she told me that was weird and I told her to take my name down and tell somebody in charge what had happened so she did but I had never heard back she had my phone number and everything so besides the fact that they don't care about their players that supposedly are the highest card holders I guess besides all that the casino is not too bad I know that Ben at the Players Club seems to go above and beyond doing all he can to be cool I should have talked to him about the incident I guess maybe somebody hire up even I don't know. After doing some research I see that the same owner owns both casinos so obviously I should at least be owed an apology maybe some extra free play but that would be Wheeling Islands responsibility to give me and I don't think that will happen but it's not Gate City that is at fault the more I think about it but I guess I never said they were I guess what I'm saying is it would have helped if I had a host because the girls that were telling me they never heard of it they asked me if I had a host that...
Read moreRecently placed 12th in a fairly well-run tournament. Here are some honest warm and cold feedback after playing over eight hours: The guy running 17 tables or so did a great job. The waitresses working their tails off did a great job. The dealers did a great job, but all employees were in over their head in the sense they seemed overworked and stressed. Players are very pompous and like to act like they know a lot, until the donkey gets to wave goodbye at them (me). Collusion is a thing. I was the odd man in a four way collusion row, with one player on my right (chip leader 16 people left), and two "friends" on my left, all colluded openly with the third on my right. I intentionally put my entire stack on the line instantly to eliminate the one I could read out of the three. It was either her or me. People will shame you if you seem new at the game or rusty. There is a ruthless sense of elitism that seemed to come back and bite quite a few players in the rear. None of them remained in the end; only the quiet ones. Two of the dealers were so new that they needed to be watched closely, which lead the aforementioned pompous players to try to "take control," which stressed the vibe and made me feel like I had to pay attention way more since ten people are counting my chips and telling me and the dealer how it should be with no supervision. This part felt very wild westish and wasn't super cool. Overall I am glad I played and not just because I did ok. I thought it was an accomplishment that the casino was even able to pull off a competition of this magnitude. Good job for that. It took half an hour to pay me $900, and one time it only took me 60 seconds to lose $500. I think money should be ready go for players who are starving and haven't eaten for 8 hours. I disagree with the rule of no food from outside. If breaks are only ten minutes, I think the food rule needs to be reconsidered during tournaments. It felt inhumane holding in pee all day and not being allowed to eat.
Conclusion: It feels awesome to crack people here because they are so cocky and such trash. It is almost funny. Never seen so many people who think talking about odds on every hand makes them great. Never seen one of these players prove it. People should really...
Read moreUnpleasant night. My party wanted to play pool. We waited 2.5 hours. Right from the start, the lady working upfront (black hair, black glasses) rolled her eyes when asked how many people were on the waitlist. Yes, we went up several times (7 times is what the manager told us) to ask about our status. We didn’t know it was a problem and a crime to ask multiple times about our waitlist since we had been waiting for 2.5 hours. At one point the black haired lady told us we were 6th in line but was told earlier by the red haired lady (manager?) that we were 3rd. I went up to ask again to clarify after another person in my party had already gone up. Were we 6th or 3rd??? After we waited a little longer, my party went to play at an open table being confused on what was going on (our fault and take full responsibility). The person who had revered the table went to speak to the front desk and the manager says “ These people have been a problem all night”. All night? The only problem was us asking about our status multiple times. Each a less than 1 min interaction. Overall, we were just confused on how reservations worked and why we were waiting 2.5 hours to play a game. At the end we decided to leave but kindly asked how we can make reservations for the future. The black haired lady told us reservations need to be made the same day, while the red haired lady told us it can’t be made on same day. Which one is it???? The black haired lady when asked a question at the end, rolled her eyes yet again and was physically shaking (anger? anxiety?). Regardless the way she spoke to us was degrading and right from the gecko we had a bad feeling about the night due to her attitude. The red haired lady spoke somewhat politely to us but spoke poorly behind our backs and mentioned to us “you guys have been up here like what? 7 times?” The establishment could be better if ran by kind and patient staff. It isn’t a crime to ask questions ladies. Be kind, be patient. If you cannot handle the stress or interactions with customers, do not work at the front desk. You are the first individuals customers interact with. We were kind and polite throughout the night until we were fed up at the end. Also, read other reviews about them targeting minorities. If you’re a POC, don’t go...
