I was proudly born and raised in Nederland Texas, and this was a very special treat for the elementary school kids to take their Nederland Heritage field trip and that was the only time you were allowed in as far as I knew well into the 2000s. Tex Ritter, famous actor and country singer starting in the 1930, as well as the father of beloved actor John Ritter, called Nederland Texas his home no matter how far he romed. Here at the windmill you will find probably one of the best kept collection of his memorabilia as well as information on the towns first settlers and their connection to the Netherlands, hence the name Nederland. It seemed from online info that it would be open, but when we arrived, the whole area (including Chamber of Commerce/Visitor's Center) was a total ghost town.
