Xavier University of Louisiana — Attraction in New Orleans

As a former student & alumni, I pen this review to remark about the quality education I received from this fine institution. One of the leading, if not the leading, at the time of this review, HCBUs /Universities with the highest rate of acceptance of African Americans into Medical Schools, XU has something to be proud of.

Also to be noted is there great Pharmacy Program where the nations best and brightest fight to gain acceptance into this year accredited program.

I will be the first to admit, the administrative side of XU is kind of lackluster, especially the financial aid department; but over looking that & going in head-first, XU is a school where one can truly receive the HBCU experience being sought after.

Reading all the comments only tell half the story. I've read about bad dorms. Well didn't Howard university just have it's students sleeping outside due to rat infestation and mold? Does spelman have a/c in most of it's dorms yet? Nope not at all.

I've read about the school being about money and that financial aid was not very professional. What hbcu isn't? Most all hbcu's biggest gripe is the financial aid office. That's the reason a lot of people transfer to pwis is because of the financial aid process.

A lot of the views presented here are misleading to potential applicants. It shine a negative light on Xavier, for the very same issues most hbcu's are facing.

I remember this being the first college I attended. I was the first in my family to go to college so I wasn’t aware of much , but there was staff to help us... Well , this man helped me and we were on a website and he was just telling me everything to click and what to “approve” . Come to find out this man made me accept about 10K in student loans, but for only 1 semester!!! ,Unfortunately this money did not even go toward my classes but to the freshman dorm I lived in ( very dirty ) .
