I had a hot and cold experience here. We are from Houston, and walked in requesting a table for 2. The waiter grabs 2 menus and takes off like Carl Lewis. We had to ask him if he wanted us to follow him or hang back momentarily. He wanted us to follow him, so we did. He drops the menus on the table, slapping them down like dominoes, and keeps walking without missing a beat or a step. We had to call him back to ask if that's where he wanted us to sit. It was. Once seated, this young man came back to the table no less than 4 times in 8 minutes to see if we were ready to order. He knew it was our first time there and the sushi menu is quite extensive, which is a good thing. But with a half-full restaurant (it was early) and 4 visible sushi chefs on deck, we couldn't understand the all-fired rush, nor did we enjoy it. We almost left because it felt like we weren't wanted there. After we got our millennial waiter to slow down -- I mean the city is called THE BIG EASY -- the experience was much more pleasant. He really was a nice young man, but if we wanted fast food w would've gone to Popeye's. Anyway, there were lots of pluses to this place: the cold vermicelli noodle dish that comes out like bread at an Italian restaurant is simply too die for! The sushi comes out VERY quickly unlike some restaurants that have you waiting for eons for a simple handroll. And the portions are the bomb. When you've been walking all day through the city, getting your food quickly and in nice sized portions is amazing! I'll be back...I just hope I get a slow-boogie...
Read moreI usually love Mikimoto. After a quick drive around, I pulled up and noticed their device through is now for pick up only, so I park. I go inside and state that I would like to make a to-go order. Quickly, I'm told the to go menus are up front. No problem. I make my order and am directed to sit upfront by the door. Also politely reminded that I can always call my order in, which I usually do, but again I just decided to stop in. Again not an issue, but I grew up around the area. Not to keen on sitting there by the door but ok. As I am sitting there floor rugs are being changed out, I'm brushed by one of the rugs. Ok. If you know a New Orleanian, that's pretty much like getting swept with a broom = we want you out. I say nothing because again, I'm just here to get my order. I get my order and leave. There are some new things with the rolls. Not an issue it was good. Ginger was kind of old. My cheesecake tempura was cold and the whip cream was pretty much just cream. I thought it was because the cheesecake tempura was hot, but when I ate one piece, that's when I noticed it was pretty much cold. The clear soup was spot on. Could have slightly been an off day. Could have been that it was cold as hell outside. Will I go back?...
Read moreThis place is amazing. I ordered my food through Uber eats as a pickup order and my boyfriend ended up going to the wrong place to get it and then I lost touch with him so I couldn't even tell him the right place to go, so I decided to call the restaurant to ask them what was going on but the guy that answered told me he wasn't there, but my order was ready. So the guy who answered the phone originally, must be the owner, called me back like 20 mins later to ask me if my boyfriend was coming to get my order still and I said i wasn't sure because he wouldn't answer the phone, so he ended up asking what area I lived in and he realized that his security guard lived only like 10 blocks away from me. So he told me that his guard would be able to bring it to me and that he would call me when he got to a certain cross street a block away from my house and I said thank you!!! It was so nice for them to go out of their way like that. And the food, I'm eating it right now, is DELICIOUS! Honestly, not just saying this, but this place probably has some of the best sushi I've ever had. I ordered the spicy tuna roll and the Diane roll. The Diane roll is AMAZING, btw. 10/10, thank you so much for the...
