I had a wonderful experience at Scott! The ladies were professional and friendly! I had taken my broken ring in for repair, and it came out more gorgeous than it was before it had broken. I debated saying anything, because I AM truly pleased with my experience, but I feel I need to mention that the ring was not repaired to its original state. This was an apparent miscommunication. The ring is an engagement ring, intended to be a wrap for my wedding band to fit inside. The ring is essentially two thin bands, joined at the top with a large stone. The ring broke near the top, making it two separate pieces. When I dropped it off, the woman understood the original design, and I even had my wedding band to show how it fits inside in case they needed it as a guide. Then when I received the call with the estimate, I was indeed surprised to hear it was a "big job", but agreed to the repair. When I picked up the ring, I was so impressed by how gorgeous it looked (focusing only on the top where it was broken) and asked the woman assisting me to box it up for the trip home. I failed to notice the alteration until I had left the store and attempted to wear the ring. The entire bottom of the ring was soldered together where it was once two separate pieces. I could no longer place my wedding band inside. The redesign of the ring surprised me, but after pairing it with my wedding band and seeing how great they still looked together, I ultimately decided that I was MORE pleased with the ring in its new state! I was originally worried that if the ring was repaired, that it may break again because the two pieces of the ring are so thin. But now, the ring is definitely more solid and stable and I believe will last a lifetime! I didn't want to call and complain, or take the ring back because this accident worked in my favor. But I felt it's important to mention that when having such a treasured piece of jewelry repaired, never take for granted that everyone understands the original design. Perhaps I should've gone over the intent of the repair when I received the phone call with the estimate? I am still elated to have my ring back, and better than ever! And now it's truly a one of...
Read moreI was 8 mo pregnant in April and needed to get my wedding rings and and 5 other rings cut off as I had tried every other method to get them all off my severely swollen hands and they were starting to cause pain and cutting into my hand. I took a recommendation from a friend to visit Scott and Co In New Oxford. They were able to get my wedding rings off with no trouble. My right hand rings were the problem. The material was different and harder to cut. They started them with the cutting wheel and then had to take me to their shop to use a Dremel wheel and then cutters to get them to snap. The owner even assisted! It was quite a process as I had 3 stacking rings on 2 fingers. I was willing to pay for their service but they insisted not as long as I returned to get them repaired when I was ready. I felt awful doing that but knew with the help they gave me I would come back and pay rather than go out of my way to the jewelry store I purchased them at originally (which is not convenient for me at all anymore). They also let me pick a silicone wedding band to wear until I was comfortable to get them repaired and resized. They were overly helpful and generous and I can’t thank them enough.
I returned in July, 8 weeks after I delivered our 3rd child to get them repaired. They were extremely helpful with helping me resize my wedding rings and my 1 other ring I chose to repair and resize as well. I dropped them off on a Wednesday around 1 pm and they told me they’d call when they were ready, no more than a week or sooner. The next day/Thursday, I had a call a little over 24 hrs after I had dropped them off for repair that they were ready! I couldn’t believe the quick turn around!
Upon pickup, they literally looked brand new again. I was impressed with the repair, cleaning and entire process. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience with never being a customer before and how they treated me and my jewelry. Based on the service, I will gladly return there then anywhere else and definitely be back for...
Read moreScott & Co Fine Jewelers is truly a fine establishment. Beyond its impeccable interior, the level of customer service and care is outstanding. My initial visit was for engagement ring shopping with my fiancé’ over 1 1/2 years ago. We shopped at other local stores, but I was impressed by the welcoming atmosphere, jewelry selection , and professionalism of the staff. I convinced him that this was the place to secure the gem. Behind the scenes, my fiancé worked with Linda (now retired) to customize the perfect engagement ring. Fast forward to present date, I bragged so much to my godmother about the great experience, she felt safe having some jewelry repaired at Scott’s. And if she were going to take the risk- despite concerns of previous negative jeweler experiences— I would also take the risk of having a diamond solitaire restored. This ring has sentimental value- it was gifted to me by my beloved grandmother over 25 years ago. I was fearful of having it out of my sight for any length of time. Last Thursday, I made arrangements for my godmother and I to meet with Kate. After a 45 minute drive on a dreary day, we were met with Kate. Kate was customer focused, friendly, and knowledgeable. My godmother was very pleased with the exchange. So was I. Kate’s confident and soothing demeanor relaxed my anxiety of ring separation. I left feeling at ease and to my surprise received a call from her a few days later to pick up my ring. I rushed down to the store within the hour and once again was greeted by Kate- still pleasant, welcoming, and consistent. Additionally, I was very impressed with the quality of work (so was my godmother). I will certainly return here for my jewelry needs...
