Brust Park has a lower & upper section, the lower section of Brust Park is one of the oldest in the Riverdale area of Fieldston adjacent to Manhattan college. The property was acquired by the city through condemnation in 1882 and the parkland remained nameless until 1940 when Mayor Fiorello H. LaGuardia named it Brust Square in honor of Corporal Charles Brust, a soldier who was killed in combat in 1918 during world war I. In 1997 Parks Commissioner Henry Stern renamed it Brust Park, the upper section was an extension of the Park with a minor road on Dash Place which seperates the two and was established in 1951. What I found that was interesting about this park was that it has a natural creek that emanates from under a natural rock formation, runs under a set of stairs in the park then forms a small pond at the bottom.
