I have been training at Professor Rob’s gym for a few months now and I can say it has been a great experience. Professor Rob is a top notch instructor in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and taught me a lot. The atmosphere is welcoming and supportive, making it an excellent place for both beginners and experienced practitioners.
A standout feature of this gym is undoubtedly the coaching. Ensuring that complex techniques are broken down into manageable steps. He gives every student individual attention. He takes the time to understand each student's strengths and weaknesses, providing personalized guidance that helps everyone improve at their own pace. The training sessions are well-structured and offer a good balance of drilling and sparring.
The gym itself is clean and well-maintained, equipped with quality mats and gear. The community here is supportive, fostering a positive environment where everyone feels encouraged to push their limits and grow. I always have questions and professor is always happy to answer. Not only does this go for Professor Rob but all the upper belts at this gym. This gym is a close knit family where people are caring of each other’s progression while training here.
Overall, Queens Academy of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a fantastic place to train. Whether you're looking to compete or just stay fit, you'll find the expertise and support you need to achieve your goals. Highly...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a sense of community and people who actually care about your well being as a student and a person, don’t bother going here. rob is one of the most spineless martial arts instructors I have ever encountered in my years of training by a mile. I tore my acl there at the beginning on January, and texted the owner to let him know what had happened, just to fill him in as to why I’ve been absent. Nothing. Not even a text to say “hope you’re doing well” or anything. Once I let him know how I felt about what a spineless person he was who only cared about money, that’s when he was quick to respond. But not actually him himself. He has his wife text me to try and “clear up and misunderstanding” and do damage control. Only when his ego was insulted did he even care to reach out to respond. If thats the type of person you want to put your health and safety in the hands of, go right ahead. This dude doesn’t care about you once the money stops coming in. He only responds when his sensitive little black belt ego gets hurt by feeble words. This is a fake establishment with fake phony people. Go learn boxing instead, or go around the corner to Renzo Gracie Whitestone downstairs from the orthodontist office; way nicer more genuine people than this pathetic...
Read moreI have been practicing bjj at this academy as a female student for about 5 years. Even though I have recently moved about an hour away I still continue to come everyday because of the strong family-like connections I have built here. It’s always a fun time, great exercise, and great training that I get with every class.
Since joining I have competed in and won in numerous tournaments, which has really helped me to build more confidence. The most supportive mentors to me have been Professor Rob and Coach Vianca. They both take their time and carefully explain each and every detail of the techniques we are learning.
Professor Rob will often times ask us students what we would like to go over, and he gives each individual personalized attention. You can tell he really cares to make sure we all understand the technique so we can improve.
There is also good mix of boys and girls who attend all of the classes. All of the students here are very motivated to learn more which in turn motivates me to continue coming everyday.
Whether you are interested in BJJ as a hobby or would like to compete in tournaments, this school has great instructors who are always here to assist you. I always recommend this school and I'm certain that it's the best bjj gym...
