I use to shop at Fine Fare weekly, but now I only shop there in an emergency since it is very close to my house. Otherwise, I shop elsewhere. The quality of the fruits and vegetables is less than desirable, quite awful actually. For example, the tomatoes are often all bruised, blotchy, oddly shaped, overripe, or all of the above. You would NEVER find this low quality at the big chain supermarkets.
The fresh fish is "frozen" and thawed before being placed on ice for display..I have witnessed the fish being thawed in water. The meats are sometimes fatty and low quality.
Read the label on all baked goods and ensure that they're not past the expiration date. I craved a snack last week (July 24, 2020) and found chips on the shelf that had expired in April and June. I was heading to the beach this past Sunday (August 2, 2020) and bought a Tuti Fruiti (baked good) in a hurry. I checked the date on the package after eating it and realized then that it expired in June. I blame myself for not checking the label, especially since I knew from experience that expired items were probably on the shelves.
Service with a smile is a far-fetched expectation at this store. With perhaps one or two exceptions, you will not be greeted by the cashiers. I amuse myself by greeting them and getting a faint hello in response, and perhaps a half eyed glance.
The reasons stated above are my honest experiences at the Fine Fare store. I really wish they offered better quality foods and healthier options, especially since the location is so convenient to my house. However, I cannot continue to spend hard earned money on such low quality and...
Read moreThe cashiers are so rude, mean & insincere. I went there yesterday to buy few things towards their closing time . I dropped my shopping basket on the shelf, the black short cashier standing close to my cashier said to me rudely ‘ you have to take the items out’ , I was surprised; then the main cashier acted the same way. I said to her, so you won’t attend to me if I don’t take them out. I was still talking she ignored me and started attending to the next customer behind me. So, I was really upset but I just took them out. The black short cashier told the black tall cashier ( the main cashier) to go let her attend to me by herself. She succeeded in overcharging me. I paid but wasn’t comfortable with the prices of the items. I demanded for a 5 cents bag and she told me it’s 20 cents , that was when I was sure that she really manipulated the prices she gave me. So I told her to take her items and give me back my money. She refused knowing fully well that she duped me. The manager came and intervened. He demanded for the receipt and gave me back some money and that short cashier rushed and took away one of the items I bought, I just ignored...
Read moreShoppers Beware. Although, this store does have sales on can goods, fruits, vegetables, and meat. And they now offers an array of organic brands. The have a bad practice of selling out dated food items and food that is actually spoiled. If you shop here, be sure to check the expiration or sell by date. There are times the sell by date is missing from the brand name meat items. Yesterday, I picked up a 3 pack of hillshire Turkey kielbasa with sell by date of May 10th. I also looked at some scotch bonnet peppers which had mold on them. Fortunatelu, I recognized these issues before getting to the cash register. If you shop here stick with non perishable foods. Get your fresh fruits and vegetables from elsewhere because spoiled is not fresh. It's quite the opposite. Also cutting around mold is dangerous. The spores that you can not see may...
