UPDATE: Got my license plate 47 days later (Nov23-Jan8) and no it wasn't a DMV delay because since I have to get my vehicle inspected in NJ the state wrote the date that they went to register it because I have 30 days to do it and it said Jan 03 2025. So incompetence led the car to not be registered until over a month after the purchase of the vehicle. They'll tell you to just drive the car and they'll pay the tickets but that's not a valid option when in NJ you get impounded for expired or no registration. Also just noticed today for some reason they took time to drill the front bumper for some reason but not drill the rear bumper. They also did not remove the spring spacers
Jhosue was great person to buy my GR Corolla from, but this is the last dealer I would recommend anyone to go to. If you want to come here be prepared to be treated like you’re to stupid to do simple math. I accepted a price from Jhosue including all fees and taxes which I was comfortable with so they started to take my trade-in’s plates off and had me switch my insurance. I went to the finance office in hour 6 of being there I honestly did not expect to work a full shift at the dealer when I went there. The finance guy tried to pull a fast one on me and said the cheapest they could do now would be $100 over the agreed price. His excuse was “taxes” I told him the price I agreed on was based on all the taxes and fees added on. Mind you this is a lease and you only pay taxes on the mileage you are going to use. After spending time arguing which I shouldn’t have I told him I was leaving and then he gave me a dumb look and goes “oh something’s wrong with the system wait one second” MIND YOU I CAN SEE HIS SCREEN. He had added on close to $10k in “add-ons” I never agreed to and took them off in front of me and said “sorry that was a glitch you can have it at the price you agreed on now” like yea dog be for real right now. I then take the car which I regret trading in my old car for. Now it’s been almost 40 days as I’m editing this review and I still don’t have my registration and license plate as they refuse to give me new temps. They tell me everytime I call “the girl that works in your DMV department isn’t here today” for two weeks I tried so then I called Corporate and magically after I get told 15 minutes before she’s not there she then magically appears for corporate. She tells them “give us a couple days we think it’s coming soon” Corporate tells me to call them back in a week if nothing happens. Two weeks later of this repeating they tell the girl in corporate “we called the DMV and they said it’s held up on their end but call back tomorrow we may have it.” So I call back the next day asking politely “hey was told to call today before 5 to check if my plates came in” and they say “I didn’t call you to call me, oh and the DMV girl isn’t here today so we can’t check” I ask “can you just send someone to go into that office that’s 10 feet away to just see if it’s there” she says “I can’t do that she’s not here” and she transfers me to my salesman who pissed me off so I hung up and call corporate back when all I needed was a yes or no answer. I tell corporate what happened and guess what when they call the DMV girl is magically there 10 minutes later and she says “we called the DMV yesterday they said it’ll be here soon we submitted the package over a month ago and we can’t call today because they’re closed for New Year’s Eve .” I know for a fact as a government employee they are not closed so I called NJ MVC myself and they were open and asked me for my VIN to check what’s going on with the registration and plates and who would’ve guessed it he looked it up and said “I don’t see anything in our system under that VIN, I’ve almost never heard of this taking over 40 days so they did something wrong ask them for new temps because you cannot drive that car.” Because in NJ you are impounded for even leaving a car parked on the street with expired tags and can’t take it out the impound until you pay the daily fees and have the...
Read moreIF I COULD RATE A 10 I would. I just want to say thank you so very much to Jose Rivera and his team from Fordham Toyota. My primary go to location has been Fordham Toyota. While working with Jose I was so greatful to the staff for providing a means to entertain my babies by providing them with balloons to play with which kept them endlessly entertained. I just love and appreciated the attentiveness, knowledge and ability to make you feel like you are listened to in order for them to cater to your expectations as opposed to telling you what they think you should do without having listened to what you truley wanted to begin with. I love how when Jose Rivera didn't know something he didn't just stop there he diligently utilized his team to support any questions I had no matter what they were. This was impressive. I love his deamenor and ability to convey a genuine and personable energy. I love how they see where you are and work with you from there. I love how I did not feel like just a number but was treated with quality from the entry to the end. I love how they make you feel like an individual and meet you were you are and how they handle your individual challenges is unmatched. I worked with Jose and his team from the planning of which car to him helping me unpack and transfer my belongings from old car to new car without me even asking. I love his initiative and helpfulness. I sat with him on 2 different occasions to carefully plan this "leasing a car." He was very patient with my search for a car which I definitely needed. I wanted a Rav 4 and my husband wanted a Toyota Cross. We have 2 children and I spend a great deal in the car majority of my busy week. Between school, sports and other activities we needed a bigger car to fit our family life. We ultimately went with the Rav 4 LE 2024 for many reasons. One biggest reason was the price and the type of car. Jose Rivera did not seem to want me to walk out without the best deal possible that met both of our goals. I was greatful to have it lowered to where we were able to manage for our budget. I prefer to lease at this time until I decide I'm ready to buy. So I was super stoked I walked out with the ideal car for our family to carry us through. I only had the car 1day but we have been leasing for 7-8years without issue. I enjoy the experience of changing cars until you find your ideal every 2-3years as I love change. I've always wanted an SUV and finally was able to get it within my price range budget.
Pros: The price, the Aesthetic, the space for my family and friends, the height.
Cons: I wish I can buy my leased car upfront but leasing doesnt work...
Read more20SEP2025 As car dealerships go, I would rate Fordham Toyota as worthy of a 4.8 star rating.
I live in Virginia [formally born and raised in NYC] and was in the market for used Toyota Crown Platinum.
Fordham Toyota had a 2023 Crown Platinum, Toyota certified pre-owned listed, for sale. The price was at fair market value.
From my first call, and speaking with Jenny, to every call after that, their staff was professional, courteous and accommodating.
Though I was not able see the car in person, Fordham Toyota made the car available for my friend, who lives in NY, to inspect and test drive the vehicle. Shout-out to Delbin for having the car ready for inspection and test drive.
After that, I spoke with Rosalba, and negotiated a fair deal.
I also spoke with Felicia who FedEx the required documents and instructions to finalize this deal without me having to go to New York.
The only not so good experience with any car dealership is dealing with their finance department.... Fordham Toyota was no different. FYI, I had secured my own financing. It is, unfortunately, part of the process in buying a car and the dealership's last opportunity to upsell their products.
Though I will say that Fordham Toyota's finance department was not as pushy/insistent as most other dealerships. Just stick to your "guns" and you will be fine.
Once the deal was closed, I overnighted my payment and scheduled an auto shipper to pick up and deliver the vehicle.
Again, ShoutOut to Delbin for having the car ready for pickup on time and for the full tank of gas. Delbin also followed up to check on the delivery, to make sure I was satisfied with the vehicle and to call if I had any questions.
I have bought cars/trucks from out of my State of Virginia before and the most important thing is to have confidence that the dealership is trustworthy. Not once in my experience did I feel that Fordham Toyota was anything but trustworthy.
If you are in the market for a Toyota, I highly recommend Fordham...
