Good. A full city block devoted to outdoor space. It's comprised of a statue to neighborhood WWI vets toward the north side, then a playground comrpised of two sets of swings- one for little kids with the harness seats and the other for big kids with the soft rubbery, plastic strap seats. There's also two areas of the playground. When you enter, immediately in front there's an open space with benches surrounding against the fence as well as abutting. This is the water play area in the summer. There's stone shapes that spray water. Immediately across are both sets of swings. Little kids' set to the left, big kids' to the right. To the left hand side there's a gated area for younger kids to play in. Its nice sized. Not one of those tiny little structures for toddlers only. This is good through preK or K its got good sized slides as well as smaller ones, but the gated area provides a barrier and keeps the bigger kids from coming in. The bigger kids have a rock wall, military-style bars (like w ladder laid horizontally) and a play structure as well, which is taller than the one on the other side. There's a red stone building which houses a boys bathroom and a girls bathroom, which isn't spotless but isn't the worst I've seen, either. There's also benches, to the right upon entering, with stone tables for playing chess or checkers or dominoes or cards. In practice, though, parents use them for a feeding area. Separated from the playground, but sharing a chainlink fence, is a full, two basket, basketball court. Behind that is a handball court with space for two groups to play at once, one on either side. These must be enteted from the street. If you're in the playground and want to play basketball, you must exit to the sidewalk and reenter. Beyond this is wide open space. Kids can, and do, ride bikes here and practice soccer drills, though its concrete, there's no grass. Theres a baseball diamond and a half court basket all the way at the end...
Read moreGreenwood Playground is a wonderful, family friendly oasis in my neighborhood. Teens come to play basketball and cricket. Adults play softball there. There are also handball courts, which, of course, can double for practicing tennis. Young children delight in the various playground options, including sprinklers. The park is kept clean by a dedicated staff and there are bathrooms available. If that were not enough, across the street you can buy pizza or ice cream! I enjoy sometimes just sitting in or near the park listening and watching the delighted children having fun under the watchful eyes of their parents or guardians. ...
Read moreA great playground with lots of space, sections for baseball, basketball and handball as well as sprinklers for kids. The main playground is divided into two sections with a gated area for smaller children and a larger obstacle course for bigger kids. Swings for small kids and larger kids are in between the two playgrounds. Access for the playground is through a main gate which most parents do a good job of keeping closed for safety. The playground does have restrooms though kids and adults are better off using restrooms at home. There is a pizza parlor and ice cream shop...
