Lisa Nail Inc. — Local services in New York

I really want to like this place, as it is a neighborhood spot with decent prices and their spa pedicures with extra massage time really are incredible. But there are three factors that will prevent me from going back there ever again: 1- Product is shoddy. My recent gel manicure started chipping after 1.5 weeks (see photo). I might as well have gotten a regular manicure for a much cheaper price if that was going to happen! 2- I’ve gotten a total of 4 manicures here. 2 out of 4 times I was maimed by Lisa’s carelessness. The first time I figured it was an accident, cuticle cut too short, can be forgiven, but then it happened again (see photo) when Lisa literally filed the skin off two of my fingers… still healing after 1.5 weeks. 3- Last, but definitely not least, the most important reason I will not be back actually is that Lisa is racist. The last time I was there, she explained to me that she only asks black customers to leave behind their ID or phone when they don’t have cash and she sends them down the block to the ATM. She told me how she doesn’t ask white customers to leave behind anything and she was recently ripped off by a white customer not coming back with the cash. I guess she thought that since I was white I would agree with her racist policies, but I most certainly do not and I’m honestly glad it was a white woman who ripped her off… serves her right!

Do not visit this salon if you value your money, fingers, and most of all, equitable treatment...

Went there twice, unprofessional and unhygienic. Went to get dip nails removed and instead of soaking in acetone, she brought out METRO CARD.. freaking metro card.. and started scraping the dip nail from nail and broke my nail. When I asked her not to do that and dip the nails in acetone, she initially said ‘we don’t do that’.. but on my insistence did put acetone soaked cotton on my nails reluctantly and took them off prematurely, because of which she had to scrape off most of the polish regardless and breaking 3 nails in the process.. and then gave me a rushed manicure with no one nail shape matching the other.. and probably the most horrible nail paint application ever. Didn’t even bother to apologise for literally pulling off my nail with the metro card.. proceeded to charge me full price ans ASK for tip.

It is a neighbourhood salon so I went twice, but enough is enough.

starting with the one positive, the gel nail polish i got (#9) was very pretty. unfortunately that’s the only thing. for the cuticle removal, it was incredibly painful, but i was like “okay, i can handle that. not a big deal”, but then i see that on one finger, there’s blood, and on another, the skin she removed wasn’t even the cuticle! furthermore, towards the end, my nails were left in the UV thing for around two minutes? i don’t have much experience with gels, but i’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to do that! not to mention she didn’t bother to even my nails out? also the polish near the nail beds is uneven and sloppy. lastly, the credit card reader is clearly broken, and has been for a while. both me, and another customer who left soon after i arrived had difficulty paying (i tried two methods), and i had to run to the corner to the ATM (in the deli, for those who are in need of an...
