I am so excited to share my experience with this amazing shop! It was so different than other shop I have experienced. You can just tell Merchants & Thieves is down to earth and full of talent from the owner to the artist. No attitude, the owner is genuinely friendly energized and focused on customer experience and made me feel comfortable. The artist I MUST rave about and was blown away by was Miss D'Jo, what talent! She doesn't have a type of art she specializes in, because she does it all equally phenomenal . I truly believe after seeing some of her work and her working on my sleeve, there is nothing that artist can not do. My tattoo is awesome, and I love it. I get compliments daily. I can never let anyone else tattoo me after this experience! Thank you Merchants & Thieves for your amazing work. I will be back and spreading the good word about your new shop and making another appointment with Miss D'Jo.

I came into this enchanting shop in Red Hook proper with a mess of ideas and little direction (graveyard? cartoon? fine line? woodcut? are these lyrics correct?). D'jo embraced my whims then masterfully transformed them into gorgeous composition.

D'jo took every opportunity to make me as comfortable as possible. My tattoo is an ensemble of the skinniest, crispest, straight lines and abound with intricate lettering. What would have been a super painful experience at any other shop wasn't with D'jo—the girl's got a light touch that I massively appreciate.

Wow I’m obsessed with my tattoo!

Dan Kazan is an absolute artist! He recently tattooed a beautiful Japanese fan on my back in a delicate thin line art style, using red and black ink. From the very start, he was attentive and took such great care to ensure the design was exactly how I envisioned it. He even helped me find inspiration to help with the actual creation of the piece. The detail and precision in his work are incredible, and he made the entire 3-hour session fly by with his easy-going personality and great energy.
