Read moreThis mosque and many of its congregants have repeatedly shown blatant disregard for the neighborhood. Week after week, cars are double-parked, driveways are blocked, and bus stops are obstructed around 125th Street, 126th Street, 127th Street, and 135th Avenue. This behavior creates constant traffic congestion, delays public transportation, and disrupts daily life for residents and businesses.
What makes matters worse is the attitude that accompanies it. When neighbors politely ask for consideration, some individuals respond with cursing and hostility. Others shout loudly in the street and drive recklessly, speeding through residential blocks with no regard for safety. This is not only disrespectful, it is dangerous. Families, children, and pedestrians are put at risk because of this disregard.
It is deeply disappointing, especially when compared to nearby churches and other houses of worship, which manage to serve their congregations without disturbing or endangering the community. Respect is a two-way street, and the repeated actions of this mosque’s attendees show little respect for the people who live and work here.
A place of worship should set an example of responsibility, courtesy, and peace. Instead, this behavior undermines the dignity of the neighborhood and the very values the mosque claims to represent. Leadership must take accountability and act immediately to correct this pattern before further...
