I started as a patient with Dr Jahan Shahi in December 2023. I was convinced by statements on his practice website that indicated he was currently a faculty member at NYU at Mt. Sinai. His Zocdoc profile left me with the impression that he was board-certified. After a visit in which he gas-lighted me by saying that my attachments were put on properly, when in reality they were all uniformly .5mm too low on my teeth, I did my research and found out that most of the information was outdated and false. During a recorded phone call, Dr. Jahan Shahi told me he was board certified. I went to the ABO and verified that he was not. After a second recorded phone call he confirmed that he was in fact not board certified, but he had been in 2007 (it expired in 2017). He also claimed he was currently a diamond plus provider with invisalign, but after calling invisalign they told me he was listed as gold plus. To add a cherry on top: he also claimed to pursue serving underrepresented youth at the Adolescent Health Center in Harlem. I called them, not only had they never heard of him, but they never even had dentistry!!

On one hand, he corrected some of his mistakes by updating his websites. This is the bare minimum he needed to do to avoid more fines and legal problems. On the other hand, instead of being an honest businessman and offering me a refund, he pressured me to sign a nondisclosure agreement. I refuse to do this because I believe that it is a serious problem when a medical professional LIES.

I instead disputed the charges with my credit card companies and resolved them in my favor. Any patient of Dr. Jahan Shahi's that was misled into thinking Dr. Jahan Shahi was board-certified any time after 2017 or so is entitled to a full credit-card reimbursement. To do it, review the rules of the Fair Credit Act. You are only required to start a communication requesting a refund and then showing proof that the merchant failed to do it. I will now file complaints with the city, ADA, and AOO.

I cannot say enough nice things about this orthodontist. Peter is very accommodating and genteel. Everyone is so friendly and Peter is truly a talented doctor. He recommended a way to do Invisalign for me that no other orthodontist knew how to do. He truly is a genius! You can tell he cares about his patients and has your best interest.

His staff is also friendly and patient as making an appointment with having a child in school, it is as hard to find a good time to fit me in and his staff member Sue was very helpful and accommodating.

I had to bring my daughter with me and she loved the doctor and staff. Peter offered her a gift that he gives to his younger patients when we were all done.

His office is immaculate. They have books for children as well as adults in the font that are neatly displayed. The design is modern and he keeps his office clean/ immaculate.

The process was so easy. Getting my molds done took no time at all and the technician was so friendly. When my plate came, it fit perfectly. I love that you can hardly even tell that I'm wearing anything in my mouth. Even my friend didn't notice that I was wearing anything, I had to pointed out to her.

Dr. Shahi treated me for 24 months of treatment with braces. I never understood how severe my oral health was until I met Dr. Shahi, and he fixed this for me and made my quality of life better. Every time I see my dentist now, they tell me my teeth are in amazing health and in great shape because of Dr. Shahi. I had a deep overbite with spacing and was grinding down my teeth, and OMG, you would never know that I ever even had any of it! Dr. Shahi explained everything I needed to know in detail of how this could affect me in the future with my oral health. I am so happy I started my treatment with Dr. Shahi and the amazing dental assistants. I appreciate this amazing smile he honored me with every day of my life! This has boosted my confidence up so much as I never liked to smile as much as I do now and don't even think twice to do so. It also changed my facial features for the better. Dr. Shahi is a very trustworthy and extremely knowledgable orthodontist, and the staff are wonderful and treated me with the utmost care and respect during my entire treatment for my adjustments.
