This is one of my absolute favorite New York City Hosijg Authorities Playgrounds in the existence of playgrounds built and or maintained by the NYCHA (New York City Housing Authorities) maintenance workers. Located around the corner/intersection of Broad Street and Tompkins Avenue, and located directly next to the tenament holding the establishment of Newport Car Service, this playground used to consist of a very, larger then normal baseball field. I believe there was actually 2 baseball fields, which were located directly next to a jungle gym type area where children and young teens can climb the monkey bars and play games like tag and lavamonster, as well as at least two different sets of swing sets. Read moreThe play yard for the children IS open. The mini pool and the athletic field/ adult fitness, handball, basketball areas are still being worked on. When it is finished it's gonna be great! The park's name has been changed to Rev. Maggie Howard Park. She really cared for the community and in honor of her service and sacrifice the parks department named the park after her upon her passing earlier this year. The church that she led sits just across the street. I never met her but I've heard nothing but kind and beautiful words about this woman. Can't wait to enjoy the park when it fully...

Nice park with large outdoor area for families, or single people to sit and read a book. Dogs are allowed, but there is no separate dog park here. Nice paths and walking areas as well.
