This review is specifically about the Asian pharmacist at this location. I didnât catch her name, and I want to clarify that my concerns are directed solely at her, not any other staff members. I arrived at the pharmacy at 7:30 PM with my 4-year-old child, who was sitting in the car with a fever. Itâs 2025, and I understand that many people may not care about others, but this situation was unacceptable. I waited until about 9 PM, before leaving and then returning at about 9:20pm because my childâs health was my top priority, and I donât live in the area of this specific pharmacy so it was a must !
By 9 PM, I still hadnât received any help. I had to get my children out of the car and start the journey home after what had already been a long day with work and school, all before heading to urgent care. Initially, I thought the prescription might have accidentally been sent elsewhere, as time passed, I felt increasingly frustrated.
While I was waiting, family members contacted every Walgreens in the five boroughs for me. At 9:20 PM, a family member informed me that they had spoken with the pharmacist, who assured them the prescription would be ready in 15 minutes, prompting me to make the trip back. Upon my return, the cashier insisted they still could not find it. I was incredulous since I had just received confirmation about the prescription. The pharmacist then appeared, having gone to retrieve her phone, and casually mentioned that she hadnât completed typing out the prescription like it was nothing. But you went outside to go get your phone? right when I came back to cashier to check if the prescription was received. Too much funny business with her.
After waiting for over two hours, literally crying with tears in my eyes going up to the counter every 20 minutes asking if anything came in yet, I felt completely disregarded. I was the last customer being served in the pharmacy from 7:30-10pm. Not only that My child was suffering, and she prioritized other orders for customers who werenât even present. The other staff members were clearly aware of the situation, which only added to my frustration. I demanded to know why the prescription, received at 9:07 PM, wasnât filled immediately since I had been waiting in the store the entire time. I even left my name and number and nobody said anything.
Even with all my frustrations, I tried to maintain my composure. The pharmacist was indifferent and dismissive, showing no regard for what I was experiencing. I left the store, upset not only about the lengthy wait and the lack of care but also because I was handed only one of the two prescriptions I needed. I plan to transfer the second prescription elsewhere and felt that Walgreens needs to do better in our community by hiring staff who genuinely care about their customers. Im sure she wouldn't treat the folks in flushing queens how she does this community.
This experience was unforgettable, and had it not been for my familyâs intervention, I would have gone without the antibiotics my child desperately needed. The lack of professionalism from that pharmacist was disheartening, and I hope this serves as an opportunity for...
Read moreI did not want to give a star rating because this Walgreens location needs to be reported to the Department of Health and the better business bureau after a complaint to corporate. They hired some rude, unprofessional workers in the pharmacy area from the pharmacist to the pharmacy technicians are absolutely disgusting and need better training. The people currently working in the pharmacy Alex and Korena who is supposed to be pharmacist donât have any regard for patients' lives they should be ashamed to call themselves healthcare workers. The leaderships in this location should be blame to condone these type of disrespectful behaviors from staff. I was told by this pharmacist that âher wait time on the phones is her wait time, and it doesnât matter if the wait is 3 hoursâ What human being much less a pharmacist speak to a patient who just came out the hospital whoâs in need of their medications like this?! YOU Korena the pharmacist who worked on 05/04/2023 with your Pharmacist tech needs to be fired immediately! That is not the way you addressed clients/patients concerned by insulting them! Kudos to the store manager on this day who worked the morning shift for answering the store phone twice put me on hold transfer the call and to surprise Alex the tech answered! Alex this tech laughed at my concern and argue with me claiming she couldnât help and hung the phone up on me which indeed made the situation worst. Absolutely sad in this day and time when there are viruses and sickness on a rampage and Walgreens leadership hiring people like this who are there to serve the public. Oh I was also told that the pharmacy couldnât answer because of a âShortage of staffâ and per the pharmacist Korenaâ Iâm welcome to report them and this incident to Walgreens corporate because they have 24-30 Clients calling a dayâ Iâve never had a pharmacist who lacks empathy, and compassion towards their patients before. I had to have my doctors resend my RX to RiteAid who take very good care of me in no time with professionalism and decency. Furthermore, Riteaid called the pharmacy and they never answered hours on hold never answered because again the pharmacist Korena made it clear her wait time is her wait time. Walgreens corporate itâs time for a change at this pharmacy location hire people who care. Total hold time via phone on 05/04/23 the entire day no one...
Read moreI'm so disappointed with Walgreens on Merrick Blvd in Springfield Gardens, Queens. They were contacted by a pharmacy in NJ to have my dads insulin pen transferred to their pharmacy. The pharmacist in NJ spoke with someone who worked in pharmacy in Walgreens on Merrick Blvd and the person reassured him that the prescription for my dad's insulin pen would be filled. This was a very serious situation because my dad must have his insulin and the pen that was shipped to him was not working. My mom received a call on our home # stating they were the Walgreens pharmacy on Merrick Blvd in Queens and that my dad prescription was ready. They even said his name. My husband went to the store to pick up the pen and they told him they have no idea of what he is referring to. They never received a prescription for my dad. I called the pharmacy back in NJ and was told that they spoke to someone at the Walgreens pharmacy on Merrick Blvd and they were told they would put the prescription in. He informed me that it took 1/2 hour before someone even answered the phone. Their pharmacy was told the prescription was put in. I called Walgreens and explained to them the situation and once again the pharmacist said they have received nothing for my dad. This makes no sense because how would they get my dad's name and phone number and call my mom if they never received anything for him. They called my mom and said his prescription was ready. I thank God that I was able to reach the doctor and she was able to put the prescription in another Walgreens. My dad could have gone into a diabetic coma because of the horrible service from Walgreens on Merrick Blvd. You need to check how you service people. It can be a life and...
