We stayed for 2 weeks here and had a lovely time! We had one of the rooms with a queen bed, and we had enough space for our luggage and items and it didnât feel small at all. The breakfast was minimal and had a âto-goâ feel (primary plastic cutlery, paper cups ,etc.) but 1) itâs included in the price so you canât really complain and 2) it did have a decent array of items as long as you didnât leave breakfast to the last minute (but thatâs kind of on you if you do, just saying lol). Only thing I would say is if you have any allergies, especially gluten, I would ask if there are any accommodations that could be made or I would skip on breakfast here.
I didnât end up eating in the restaurant at the hotel in the end but the menu and food looked good. It also has a well stocked bar. It is open to the public as well as the rooftop lounge until 10pm I believe. On Fridays/Saturdays it is quite busy and noisy in the lobby and the rooftop lounge (I could hear some noise with the window closed on the 10th floor) as I think itâs a popular spot for locals to start their evenings, however as I said it stops promptly at 10pm and I personally didnât encounter any rowdiness in the lobby. In fact everyone I encountered that was part of the general public in the communal areas in the hotel were super nice even when a bit drunk! Just bear in mind if you need to wake up super early on a Saturday/Sunday morning that it will be a bit noisy in the evening before.
Good stock of amenities provided if needed. Good quality towels and bedding. Nice pressure on the shower. Housekeeping was thorough on the room, only thing I think wasnât done was mopping the floor but this didnât bother me personally. Housekeeping also followed any requests I made on how I wanted the room perfectly.
Reception staff were attentive and lovely. I unfortunately donât remember their names but we were mainly dealt with by a lady (Josepi possibly?) with a very bright pink lipstick and glasses and a soft spoken lady with long brown braids (who checked us out on the morning of 23/06). Didnât really speak to the security but they seemed friendly.
The area youâre in isnât too bad. Itâs probably only a bit shocking to you if you donât come from a big city, honestly. I felt less safe on the subway at night than walking to the hotel at night, to be genuinely honest. As long as you have even minimal street smarts youâll be fine. I would suggest to get out at the 4/5 train stop rather than the 6 train, as that is significantly closer to the hotel.
The singular negative I have is that they threw away my reusable bottles I gave them that had my detergent and conditioner in that I asked them to use on my laundry, and thatâs genuinely the only negative I have!
Great price and good connections to the rest of NYC,...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed on 7/25 for a few nights to catch a Yankees game. We are from KY so this was a very new area to explore. The hotel is clean and efficient for a couple nights stay. It is small but efficient. The room is like a studio and the bathroom is glass walls but frosted. Being married it works. The front desk people were very kind and helpful no complaints. The garage is enclosed and they will park it for you (valet). Itâs nice to know no one can get into your vehicle in the Bronx. Itâs $35 a day. Cheaper than most. The breakfast was sufficient for a continental. They had coffee, fruit, waffles, muffins, yogurt, Jimmy dean sandwiches etc. they have filtered water and bubbly water stations. No ice machine that I know of. It has a âbouncer at the front doorsâ everywhere in New York seems too. The bedding was clean, the room was clean, not the best views but it is a big city. I read reviews everywhere and honestly this one wasnât as bad compared to the rest. The parking in an enclosed garage was a big thing for me. Put my mind at ease. The front desk will offer suggestions on places to go. They were all very friendly. I really appreciated that coming from a small town. Food is cheap in NY cheaper then I expected. For New York and what I paid for the room it was a great place to stay. Itâs simple and efficient and comfortable. Just small. Everything is small in New York! Night time wasnât as bad as I thought it was but it isnât somewhere I would go exploring as south Bronx is the most dangerous. Itâs probably less than 40 steps from hotel to subway entrance. We had no issues. Take the subway everywhere donât drive. Itâs easy efficient and a great experience. We spoke to several people and all the locals were very kind and helpful. Everyone carries a backpack I didnât from what I was told but literally everyone does. Just watch your stuff and donât lay it down. Google maps is your friend for navigating subways. Get a hot dog from a street cart. From country folk it wasnât a bad place it was just very interesting and a great experience. It is extremely hot in July. Wear good shoes donât look cute your feet will thank you later. Traffic is terrible. Donât drive. Enjoy and take the subway get the New York feel. We walked 18000 steps in one day. Central Park is great during the day. Times Square during the day unforgettable, 9/11 museum was incredible ,Yankees game is crowded but great good food as well get there 3 hours early! We did all that in one day! Take the subway. So simple! Cops are everywhere so it is a comfort. If you need help just be straight to the point with the locals and they will be glad to help you. Walk fast! Use your elbows if you need to to create space đ itâs a...
Read moreAfter this stay not only will I not stay in this hotel but any other Wyndham hotel. I have been a Wyndham rewards member for years. When my points are used up thatâs it for me. I have never had any hotel treat me so bad I had called customer service before my arrival to see if I can stay an hour after checkout. The customer service rep called the hotel and said I can stay one hour but anything after this would be $75. I ,also confirmed this when I checked in. I was told to tell front desk person the night before I will check in out at 12. PM. However, the evening front desk clerk said there is no way anyone told me I could stay an extra hour without the $75 charge. So, in other words I am lying. Also, I was offered water bottles to fill up with water for free. Imagine my surprise when my credit card was billed over $40 for the bottles. Also the hotel is in a desolated neighborhood with no restaurants. There are boarded up buildings and scary people hanging around. We never left the hotel after dark. In addition, there is some sort of night club in the hotel playing extremely loud urban music The rooms were smaller than my college dorm room. Breakfast was wo average. I am more angry about the disrespect I was shown rather than then the hotel itself. Just a very bad experience.
This is the response I received back from management
GM GM, General Manager at Wingate by Wyndham Bronx/Haven Park, responded to this review Responded yesterday We regret having to read reviews filled with lies like these. There were no extra charges on your account, and this comment is due to you not wanting to pay for a late checkout after the courtesy time. We don't want disrespectful people in our hotel. Please don't return.
BYW did not get a courtesy hour I checked at 11AM. Other customers were complaining about the loud music the is a place called Rosa at the Park. The hotel in my opinion had unsafe location. We walked around for 15 minutes both directions could not find a restaurant. Took a Uber every time we went out. Some guest may have had rental cars and did not see the boarded up buildings. I am an older woman traveling with my granddaughter and didnât feel safe. This was my personal opinion. I just stayed at a Wyndham hotel in The Netherlands The Amedia Hotel a few days ago while on vacation 6 days. I gave them a 5 star review because they gave 5 star service. The hotel asked for the review I am sorry they did...
