The Professors for the most part are absolutely amazing, and they try to be there to help the students. It is the administration office you have to look out for. The so called "Academic Advisors" are no good. There is maybe one good advisor who actually knows what she is talking about on the entire campus. The two that they have for teaching majors I had are known for being bad. The one for the freshman and sophomore students told me one thing and she did not seem to have the needs of me the student in mind. I was trying to schedule classes for my second semester and i wanted to add some ASL classes for my minor. She said that I "Should forget about having a minor. If you want to graduate in 4 years you need to have at least 15 credit hours a semester." After that meeting i decided to ask around to see what some of the other students had to say about her. The responses was the same from everybody i talked to, 'just get away from her', 'You're better off advising yourself'. I found out that every time complaints stacked up against her she was transferred to be the advisor to a different department. When I asked one of my friends about her he said that he changed majors because of her. She had told him this his chronic depression he had that semester was no reason for him to have low grades. After i had another scheduling session with her of which she blamed me for things that was out of my control, i decided to report her. The supervisor was the advisor for the junior and senior students in the middle childhood education program. When i told her how the first advisor, since i would rather not name names i'll call her A, A said wildly inappropriate things to me the second advisor, i'll call her B, told me i must have misunderstood. She then looked at my classes and told me that the math class I was in, upon A's instruction, was a waste of time and money and that i did not need to take the class. When i told her that A told me it was a requirement and that she said i had to take it in order to graduate she told me "I know she didn't tell you that. She must have said that it was recommended and you took that to mean it was a requirement." So after that I dropped the class and enjoyed my summer. When it came time to schedule classes for my third semester i came to find out that A was right and that i did need that math class. so i took it again . Unfortunately a member of my family fell ill that semester and i tried to focus on school but it was hard. When i met with B she told me that my grades "were unacceptable and if i really wanted to be a teacher and graduate on time that i needed to sit down and focus. Because with how things are now you will never be accepted into the program."And like A she never asked me if i wanted to graduate in four years, and she never game me the chance to explain and continued to blame me just like A did. She also never took my official complaint against A because she knew "that A is good at her job and there is no way that she would ever act like that and you just misunderstood." I was also told by both of them that i should quit my job, which was the only way i had to pay for gas and books. And there was nobody at the school i could talk to about either of them, and i asked if i could have a different advisor that was not either one of them and i was told i could not. So after my fourth semester at OSU Newark Campus, i changed my major and my school. Now i am at Columbus state and the advisors are much kinder, ready and willing to work with you and your job schedule. They are also better organized than the advisors at OSU Newark. The advisor i spoke to not only took in account the work schedule i had that i couldn't change at the time, but she pulled up break down of what four classes i would have to take each semester if i wanted to graduate in two years, something...

Read moreI attended OSUN my freshman year of college (I'm a local gal). Other than the fact I met my husband here lol... OSUN was the perfect experience even during horrible times... My first semester my Dad was placed in Hospice for a week and it happened to be during Final Exams. I will never forget how amazing and understanding my professors were (I had missed quite a bit of class and multiple profs contacted me or pulled me to the side to make sure I was okay). I'm horrible with names but my math professor was a little lady with dark hair, I believe she had a cane, and she was extremely intelligent and I LOVED the way she taught and conducted class. My other favorite prof was a History professor whose room was down the right hallway on the right. I hate History lol but the way he taught was very animated, lively, and most importantly he taught REAL HISTORY. If you're looking for profs who actually care, smaller class sizes, and a safe campus, this place is IT FOR YOU! - PS: I also highly recommend the Womens Self Defense Class AND the Badminton Class. My...
