Rivertown Trail — Attraction in Newburgh

Smooth, shady pathway with a cool pedestrian bridge. Leads to Newburgh's Water Street all the way to the new lock and dam.

Good for family walks. Lots of dogs on leashes, some cyclists. Expect joggers, runners, and strollers.

Handicap accessible. Long downhill grade from trailhead mostly off the way to the river. Uphill grade from river observation area Water Street. Water Street through the Old Dam site is mostly level roadway.

This is a must stop on my visits to Indiana.. My grandchildren love the River Trail...so much to see! They can run, love to watch the tugboats push barges and walk to the gravel yard to wave at the dump truck drivers. Sadly, on this trip we found my grandson's favorite coffee shop, The Refinery had closed. He was very upset and looked in every window...

Such a beautiful and quaint walk by the Ohio River. The red bridge is beautiful and it always amazes me how much local history is in that bridge. Both horse drawn carriages and the fir as t cars frequently traveled on the bridge before it was dismantled and repurposed into the walking bridge that it is now. Both bikes and dogs are allowed...
