Don't shop here if you want a fair price! Called to ask how much something would be, but when we showed up a couple hours later, they raised the price by over $50. When asked, they just responded that the price given was wrong. That's not how you do good business. The former owner ran that shop well and honest for a long time. It's a shame to see it go downhill. Leave the scalping to the scalpers and honor the price you told your customer. You have real people trying to get into a hobby. No better way to deter them than by price gouging. Won't be coming back and will make sure to tell everyone I can to avoid this place.
Editing my review to respond to the managers comment:
Unfortunately, this will be a case of differing narratives, but I'm certain of the price I heard. I even repeated it and made a comment about it being a good price. I made sure to ask if there would be enough stock because I wanted to purchase there for the price. The price told over the phone was $135. Retail is $90. So if the store really wants to find a midpoint, as they claim, they wouldn't be selling the item at almost a 100% markup. Price gouging is price gouging, and it's a shame to see greed ruin good...
Read moreEmployees are so important to the overall impression of a business. Not that the employees are terrible here. But, they are barely functional. When I arrived, I was the ONLY customer in the entire large facility. Strange enough, no one was interested in me. The employee was busy playing a game with a large number of their friends. Maybe they were customers. But NOT ONE had purchased ANYTHING. Other than fast food. I did see several fast food bags around them. At one point, someone finally looked up and asked if I needed help. (After about a half hour of me looking around). And I got nothing as I finished looking around and finally left.
The selection is okay. Good, but not great. Especially for a place of this size. The prices are really high on some items too. There's trying to make a profit, and then there's scalping/price gouging. While not the worst I've seen, the prices are close to the later on the scale.
There are other better places in this area that are more interested in me than they are their game-and where my dollar can go a lot further. I will probably just take my business there...
Read moreThe shop itself is pretty nice with lots of things to do and see. Lots of collectables and even games to play like Pinball or several hosted game nights. However, I cannot in good faith recommend you do business with this store because of the business practices that they employ. On multiple occasions I have taken comic books or trading cards to this location to see what the store would offer me and every time I am lowballed in the range of 10-20% of what the item is actually worth and would be sold for in the store. This past week I took two comic books up to this store, worth over $200 combined, and the owner offered me 30$. Another great example being the time I took a rare book worth almost $600 to this store just for fun to see what I was offered.. 60 dollars…. I understand a business has to make money when flipping something but I believe this business is out to take advantage of people who don’t know the value of what they have or people who are desperate to sell their items for cash. In conclusion, don’t sell your items to this business unless you want to be taken...
