Fries, burgers, malts, shakes and so much more. If you're looking for delicious comfort food, and desserts with a spectacular view this roadside shack is the place to visit. With plenty of seating and umbrellas to shield you from the heat on beautiful sunny days It's definitely a roadside stop worth visiting. On the weekends, there can be a line with cars of all types of makes and models backed up along the side of the road, however the guests are really friendly and seek to help move people along as they leave their spot bellies full of delectables. Even on hot days, the cool breeze coming up the cliff will match the chill inside inside your stomach after taking a bite of a banana split or a sip of a chocolate shake. I was really surprised at the speed at which our order was ready. The place was packed there wasn't an empty place to sit until 2 minutes before our order was called out on the loud speaker. If you like the people watch, you'll get a chance to meet with people visiting from all around the world. It was nice just to sit and hear all the different languages and accents and the variety of swimsuit attire worn by the patrons gobbling down the goodies. Believe it or not, it's actually a place where couples have proposed overlooking the beautiful ocean view and zoning out as they watch the beachgoers do their best to challenge the ocean waves crashing onto the shore. Not too much further down the street, if you feel like a steak there's Javier's and several other excellent restaurants not half a mile up the street. There are no parking attendants to force you to leave so you can stay as long as you like. Come with an appetite and you won't be disappointed. I'd even suggest dipping your fries into a chocolate shake, just try it. Everything was fresh; nothing sat out. The fries were super hot and the shakes were super frosty. Fast and efficient and worth four stars. Thank you Crystal Cove Shack Shake! I had a...
Read moreThis place is so fantastic. It ranks in our top three meals for both my mom and I on our recent trip up the coast. These are exactly the kind of burgers we like, not too thick and not too thin. The bun was toasted to a perfect degree and the cheese was melted into the lettuce just right. The fries were also really good but they were great with ketchup. And of course, the view is unbeatable. We are from VT and thought prices were very standard, yeah it’s “expensive” but so it everything else so it’s kind of subjective. The shakes were good, we got vanilla and Oreo. But we’re not but shake people so the food was the real standout for us. The parking situation is weird and I didn’t see any other recent review about it. So you pull onto this sort of turning lane into the place and just wait there in a line up of cars until a space becomes available. We waited for probably about 20 minutes in a short line up of cars, nothing too crazy. The parking spots are pretty tight but it’s one way traffic and the people coming from behind are waiting for your spot so they are patient with you pulling out. There was a coveted patio area with seating as well as a bar style section to the side, two benches with stools overlooking the ocean. We were lucky enough to get a seat there and it was perfect since we had our own space instead of cramming in the patio, the tables looked pretty tight. There are also bathrooms here which was great! Totally recommend this spot, very nostalgic vibes...
Read moreSo I'm waiting for my friend to get in the car after a great lunch. I'm parked with my engine on, off to one side of the side of the driveway, right in front of the place. This affords the other cars the most possible room to go around, plus, I'm not taking up a regular parking space. Parking is at an intense premium here, and it's very busy. Yes, I am blocking the handicapped spot, so I'm watching the oncoming parking lot traffic for plates or placards. The manager I guess comes out and tells me to move, says I'm blocking the handicapped spot, so I say "I'm watching for them". He goes: "Oh, sure you are!", all sarcastically. So just to be cool I move my car to a regular space, and take up that most valuable piece of real estate with my car, when it could have been left available for the other customers desperately trying to find a parking spot. This is exactly what I didn't want to do, unnecessarily take up a precious parking spot, especially since I was leaving very soon. I was doing the most efficient thing to free up parking spots, and stay out of everyone's way, even helping people maneuver in and out of parking spots. But all I got for it was sarcasm. BTW, no handicapped person came needing that spot, so the manager's angst was unwarranted. They couldn't trust this patron to think kindly towards others and be efficient with space, and they found a way to get bent...
