Today I want to give you an idea for a day out that is good for ALL ages- even if it’s just you and your infant! You can do this solo, as a family, or with your mom friends. I recommend going on a warm, sunny day as the ocean breezes can get chilly. 🌊 Start at Balboa Island. Yes, parking can be stressful here but we drove through the neighborhoods until we reached a street where there were plenty of spaces available (this was on a warm and sunny Friday). We parked on Topaz. Any of the streets in that area of the island will work though. 🌊 Park and take a little stroller walk. The houses here are really cute to look at, and this time of year many have fun Halloween decor which is a nice bonus. You can walk through the neighborhoods OR walk on the outside along the water. 🌊 Make your way toward the Balboa Island Ferry. Fares here are $1.50 each way for pedestrians adults and 50 cents for ages 5-12. Bring cash! Your kids will love being on a boat - even if it is only a few minutes! ⚠️Safety Note: When the ferry reaches the other side, make sure to keep your kids close as the cars will exit first before pedestrians. 🌊 When you reach the peninsula side, you can do some activities at the Balboa Fun Zone. We did not do this, and opted instead to walk a block over to the pier for lunch at Ruby’s. 🌊 This Ruby’s is not like the others and does not have any restrooms or kids eat free days. But it is a fun atmosphere. 🌊 There is a beach playground by the pier, next to restrooms. This playground is perfect for babies and toddlers. It is a good stop before or after lunch! The whole trip took us about 2 hours, but you can bring sand toys and stretch it out! Any questions about this trip? Comment below! ⬇️

Another playground stop along the way. Bathrooms nearby. How lucky are these kids to have their school playground right on the beach!

This in an unexpected find of a massive blacktop in a beautiful Beach with gentle ocean breezes. It is complete with basketball courts, handball walls, tetherball courts, and dodgeball area. It is very underused. I use it as a rest stop when I am on long bike rides. This time I visited it as a place for a Zoom call. Doing so was a nice change of pace- very nice to use a real Beach for my background...
