Very disappointed! I'm actually also upset at myself because I know what to expect with restaurant chains but given the limited choices in very good, authentic food restaurants in prime real estate areas and my 8yo daughter needing to eat, I broke down and walked in... I was saying to myself while noticing the staff that made it feel like I was in an episode of Jersey Shore type "Bros", with the one hot bartender who exuded this persona that she was too good to be there, you will pay a high price for crap food and you will then post something about it to try to reach the masses of those that want good eats! So here I go..... I was bamboozled! Damn I'm so mad I paid that much for this crap! Nothing Mexican or Fusion about this place. Tortillas were fresh out of a bag and still cold, my daughter's chicken quesadilla was the worst she's had that she stopped eating her fries! What kid doesn't eat their fries after a long drive from out of town and they're starving? Mine did not! She asked that we go back to where we rented for the weekend and I cook her a real quesadilla. I was very tired but I did make her something else.
If you've ever watched Anthony Bourdain or Andrew Zimmern on the Travel Channel, you will know because they are both very vocal about their dislike for any restaurants that are too fancy either in their decor or maybe in their location because that typically means the quality of the food often lacks in a huge way to make up for the high costs of rent, this unfortunately falls on the customer. If these world renowned chefs choose to eat at "Hole in the Wall", "Ma & Pa" restaurants and pass up the chains or fancy eateries, that has to say a lot! I never spend this much time to write about bad food and bad service but I LOVE great food no matter the cost, and I think bad service needs to be addressed but this just had to be done! Hopefully management or corporate will make a change but if they have a chain, that means it must be succeeding therefore may never change their model?..
I think people feel more ripped off because places like these try to sell authentic but realise after the drinks and food are already ordered, that it is the furthest from it.
For Mgmt: Restaurant is named Baja Sharkeez Mesquite-Mex Broiler (Mexican or Fusion), staff was advertising a Luau theme (Hawaiian), but you guys are built out like a Sports Bar, I like any one of these I just think you need to decide which way you are going to go? I think a Californian Beach type Sports Bar would be...
Read moreI wish I could give this place a zero. This business does nothing to protect their paying customers from violent and belligerent drunks.
I was there yesterday celebrating my birthday weekend. I had 1 margarita that I was still finishing when some commotion started with the table next to us. My friends and I looked in that direction to see what was going on. The group of girls turned around to face us and I thought one of them was asking if we wanted their table because it seemed as if they were getting kicked out. I was about to answer to "No, thank you. We're happy with our table", until I realized that they were asking if my friends and I were laughing at them. I answered, "No, I'm not laughing at you. If I wanted to laugh I would laugh because my friends and I are talking about something else."
The next thing I know is I was assaulted. My hair was pulled, a drink was thrown at me, and I was punched several times on my head while some guy was trying to defuse the situation. Knowing how things can escalate and being trained in several forms of martial arts, I kept my hands on the table and did not fight back knowing the damage that I can potentially do. Knowing that police would detain all parties involved even though it would be self-defense, I did not want to subject myself to that embarrassment as I am a well-respected professional in a global corporation. I also work with several people in local governments and law firms, including the DA's office and this City's Council.
The bar manager and security kicked the other group out but my friends and I were also kicked out as well. There was no effort to check the security cameras or get the offending party's information or detain them as the police arrived within 5 minutes. All this bar wants is to reduce all possible liability on their inability to control dangerous situations and individuals and do not care if you are an innocent victim. I will never go to this business again. It is a far cry from the business it was about 8 years ago when I lived...
