I’ve always loved golfing at Pelican Hill especially the North course. The atmosphere, food, and overall experience have consistently been top-notch, which is why I chose it to celebrate my brother’s birthday last Saturday. Unfortunately, this time ended on a very frustrating note.
After finishing our round, I walked to the front valet to have my car pulled up so I could load my clubs before heading to dinner. There were about 20–30 people waiting and maybe four or five valet drivers working, so I understood there might be a delay. After waiting 30–45 minutes with no update and most other guests having received their vehicles, I went back to the valet booth and asked where my car was. I was told, “Since you said you were staying for dinner, we didn’t pull your car up.”
That would’ve been fine—if someone had communicated that to me. Instead, I stood outside waiting unnecessarily. One of the attendants kindly offered to load the clubs for me so I could go inside and enjoy dinner, which I appreciated at the time.
But the real issue came the next day when I opened my trunk and found my clubs thrown in carelessly. My $300 Callaway Rogue ST max driver had been loaded sideways and clearly slammed against the side panel of my trunk. The shaft was snapped. I’ve only had it for a couple months and haven’t even gotten a full season of use out of it. To make matters worse, I had a golf tournament today and now couldn’t participate because of the damage.
I’ve never had a negative experience with Pelican Hill before, but this was incredibly disappointing. The lack of communication and care from the valet team led to a ruined club and a missed tournament. I truly hope management addresses this, as it’s unacceptable for a high-end course and resort to treat guests’...

Takes a lot of time & never ending efforts to achieve such year round affirming accomplishments! Average 332 days on the GPI system per year is epic playability. #PHGC is an absolute life experience. Fortunate 2 play often cuz- Truly master works of two championship 🏆 courses by golf ⛳ architect Mr. Tom Fazio in Orange County California b4 desigN Shady Canyon & Oak Creek as well.
Far more than golf course or sports... beauty is bountiful & beyond words, PHGC transcends golf ⛳...true life experience. Feel same way each april @ #angc but can actually play both these Stellar golf tracks @ Pelican any time 👌🙏! Highly Recommend ⛳ 👏 👏 👏
If You can only play one of the two championship golf links tracks- 1st time play south ⛳ track...enjoy the ocean 🌊 holes. If you can- play both cuz North course is superior track & has better views on EVERY hole. North is more of a Hill Target course & totally epic. The 3 holes on beach r stellar...both courses and resort transcend golf. True life experience every time. Hit'em long & straight....putt even better! Enjoy...
Read moreThe team at Pelican asked us to come back in light of our December experience and it was MUCH better. 4 stars. So I will upgrade the review to 3 stars.
Staff was great, the round was under 4 hours and the course was in better shape. I suspect our last round was a result of the Christmas traffic beating the course to bits. Muni experience with a premium price tag. Is how I would characterize my experience at Pelican. I’ve wanted to play the course for a couple of years and finally pulled the trigger. I feel like I was in a different place than other reviewers.
The North course has stunning views but the fairways, traps and greens were subpar. Fairways were hacked up and golfers seemed to not sand them, same for ball marks on greens and raking the thinly coated traps- that’s on the other golfers. The starter warned us the pace was slow (a premium experience either spaces tee times better or identifies groups slowing the field) we spent nearly 5 hours on course and waited on every shot after the first tee.
At bag drop we grabbed our own bags (valets standing around) and eventually a cart guy came up to get us settled. Our cart’s parking brake wouldn’t set, we called for a replacement after playing hole 1. After two calls and 4 holes one arrived wet from being washed. For a premium course this kind of thing just shouldn’t happen.
My 2 stars are for the views, feels like they are just dialing it in and counting on people to shell out big fees for a...
