May seem odd to some to ‘rate’ a cemetery, but if you’re reading, then you already understand. I find them to be beautiful and peaceful places. This one dates to 1855. My first ever visit. Not looking for anyone in particular, just had about 15 minutes to spare while nearby, so did a quick (but slow) tour by car. Well maintained grounds. Nice layout, not too hilly, some beautiful and notable monuments. I’ll be sure to do a walking tour come late spring or summer. Great way to learn the history of this part of Boston.

An extraordinary place to visit in Newton, Massachusetts. Exceptionally well taken care of and clearly loved. Every inch of the rolling landscape, with beautiful ponds full of ducks & geese, has scenic views and beautifully loved gravestones. A truly honorable place for those we loved that respects all people of all backgrounds. Historically interesting, and full of diverse horticulture and wildlife. A birders paradise as well. I can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely beautiful!! Very well maintained, lovely staff. Love the fountains and the peaceful area on lake Street. Nice to enjoy wild life while visiting loved ones.

To Miz Stella: I don't know where you came from but you should return there; you're obviously not a New Englander or from the Metro Boston area as we don't "run" in cemeteries and Newton Cemetery is NOT a "Public Space." You should try the Duck Pond down by the Charles River on Norumbega Rd or at Norumbega Tower. I would let you know right to your face what a rude, spoiled, self obsessed, entitled little whiner you are if I saw you running past my relatives plots or if I was there for a funeral and you ran by...it would be the last time you ran in a cemetery. Try running along Route 90, aka...

We drove a long way to visit a family member’s gravesite. We’d never visited before. We arrived at the Information Center at 3:45. They were supposed to be open until 4pm. They must have skipped out early.. Since we only had the plot number in Alcove “A,” we were unable to find the site ourselves. There are only street names in the cemetery. We needed their assistance. If they are volunteers, I can understand. I hope they aren’t paid employees that left early....
