I decided to host my wife's 50th birthday party at home this year and needed a caterer that had traditional Italian dishes and sandwiches. Scafidi Bros. did not disappoint. We had about 50 people over and the food was a big hit. The owner Teddy showed up right on time, helped set up the trays, and gave detailed instructions on how to keep the dishes hot and serve them throughout the night. He even loaned us a big wicker basket to serve the bread when I realized we didn't have anything to put it in. They couldn't be nicer and more professional. We've been anxiously awaiting a proper NY/NJ deli and I'm afraid this falls short even on the most basic sandwiches. We got take-out today and here's my review on the chicken parm, which along with eggplant parm is a bellwether of the menu - the roll was very good, sauce was decent, but the chicken was dry throughout, compressed and tough to chew in some sections. Went to Scafidis for the first time today and it was great. Ted the owner greeted and helped us, guiding us through the menu. We got one Meatball Sandwich ("The Carlo") and one Italian Sub ("The Anthony"). The ingredients were fresh and delicious, especially the bread.
