The valet is amazingly cheap, very professional, and friendly. If you want to save your $3+tip, yes they deserve a tip, for the machines, there is a very spacious parking lot which was being patrolled by a security vehicle so you don't have to worry about parking a bit further back in open areas to avoid a door ding or scratch. I also noticed a shuttle van but didn't use the service so I have no opinion on it, the van looked spacious and clean from the outside, and the driver seemed nice enough, but how many places have ever been ruined for you by the shuttle van? For the most part everything was very clean, but the casino seemed somewhat empty other than the main entrance, some of the patrons outside attempting to kill themselves with cigarettes as well as anyone attempting to enter with second hand smoke were obnoxious and loud but it's not the casinos job to raise children so that's not on them, however attempting to avoid the smoke stacks entering the casino shouldn't be a fixed part of the experience, there are clearly posted distance restrictions beside the doors but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be enforced or acknowledged, oddly enough rather than having one side or the other be a designated smoking area, it's a free for all on both sides, clearly limiting this to one side would eliminate the cancerous jenga game, my suggestion would be on the side that isn't a pick up/drop off for valet and the opposing side seems far better suited for the title. There was a good variety of newish machines of various types around the floor as well as the classic tables, the dealers were friendly and engaging, the multiple bars were also very well dressed with varieties of drinks and mannerly staff, I didn't eat so I can't comment on what I don't know, my friend stayed in the hotel and seemed to enjoy his stay, most hotels are no news is good news when it comes to an opinion on how the night was considering in these times most people won't speak up on satisfactions but will break their neck to complain. The bathroom I used was very clean as well. Overall to be a young as it is some of the off rooms with machines seemed outdated compared to the main area you first walk in to, there was also an obnoxious televison that NASA uses to keep the space station up to date on football games with but for whatever reason it was stolen and used to replace a wall in the main entrance, I thought about reporting it to the FBI but I'm assuming they already know, I'm guessing during events and colder winter weather the building is much busier, but from the time I spent there I can say that the reason it's empty has nothing to do with the services, every interaction I had with employees was exceptional thre only reason I've rated 4 stars was for the nicotine addiction I picked up on my way in and out, how a dated trend like smoking hasn't at least been contained and enforced to a singular section as to not make non smokers have to interact with the life choices of others is a poor reflection of management and I have sneaking suspicions that similar management choices that I didn't encounter could also have some explaining traits as to why it was as empty as it was. But overall it was a great time! I would like to go again, if only to get a nicotine fix without having to spend $6 on a pack...
Read moreWe’ve stayed here before and found the lobby & rooms have had a much needed remodel. Everything was clean and well appointed. Love the new large shower head. The only mirror is in the bathroom. Plenty of charging stations and outlets are provided.|Included breakfast was continental consisting of oatmeal, cereal, toast, bagels, muffins, boiled eggs, oranges, coffee, tea, & water. It served our needs.|Why I gave 4 stars rather than 5: NO POOL. The last time we stayed an indoor pool was there. With the heat index over 100 degrees, we had factored the use of the pool into our 2 night stay. A “resort” has at least 1 pool if not more. Considering there are no children allowed made the pool even more appealing! We were told they were remodeling it into a kitchen, so in the future they will offer a hot breakfast (along with a price increase?!).|Missing are signs indicating which way (left or right) to find your room, elevators, and ice machines. Also missing was a tv channel directory.|We came for the Greyhound races, but this too, has changed - not improved. Three of the drink/food options were not open (understaffed we were told). We began outside since this “resort” was advertised as no smoking on their grounds inside or out. Not true outside. The deck area is poorly maintained and swarms of hornets were everywhere. The seats are raggedy outside as well as inside the observation areas. Nothing was open to get drinks near the dog track. After being stung by the hornets we moved inside. The air conditioning was not adequate for this space. Many of the monitors did not work and there were no staff around to assist. No inside or outside announcers calling the race and the sunshine was so bright on the tote board it could not be read. With a few modifications this could be a really nice venue. Obviously they are catering to the casino. Both food venues open after 5pm are very pricy for what you get. We did enjoy the Thursday night petite filet dinner for 2 at $60, which was worthwhile. The meal was great, but our service was not. We arrived at 5pm, but were there 1 1/2 hours and missed the first 3 races, and it was not busy. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and stated this on our reservation, but nothing was mentioned about it.|We enjoy watching the dog races, but will return next year either in...
Read moreMy husband and I booked a king room for one night. This was our first time visiting this Casino Resort. As soon as we arrived at 5:10, we were told no king rooms were available and we would have to wait for at least 30 more minutes before checking in. Things happen so we understood and waited. We got to check in at 5:40 and had reservations for 6:30 at the French Quarter. The desk staff were not very helpful with direction as to where everything was located. We found out online that the restaurant was located inside the Casino. The French Quarter had “buffet” seafood night on the night we went so we decided to try it. For $65 each, the seafood was lukewarm at best and in no way high quality or fine dining. We were able to get prime rib which was served hot and included with the buffet. We then enjoyed the casino and have no complaints about that area except the staff are not helpful to first time customers. No direction was given as to where to get the membership cards or if they operated with cash (casinos we have been to in the past were no cash facilities). Bartender service and drinks at the Sports Bar were fantastic. When getting back to our room and getting into bed, the bed smelt of extremely strong urine. We went ahead and packed up our bags and changed back into our clothes. We went to the front desk and they were very accommodating and upgraded our room to an executive suite, apologizing for the inconvenience. The executive suite was very nice, but was located at the front of the hotel. Loud speakers were located under the canopy at the front of the hotel where they play music at all hours. In the executive suite, this sounded like a party was thumping all night. We called and spoke to someone at 1am to request the music be turned down then it wasn’t until other guests complained that they finally quieted the music around 2-3am but could still be heard in our room. We will not be returning and would not...
