We typically love this place but today we were just completely dumbfounded by the service. First were served several day old stale chips. You couldn't even chew them. We had to request new ones. We then place our order, two regular taco salads one grilled. Every came out as ordered but mine. It says on the menu it comes with cheese dip very clearly. I explained nicely to the waiter if he could just bring me a small Lil bit of the cheese the salad didn't need remained. No big deal, right? Our waiter tried fixing it but the kitchen amusingly refused to give it to him. Tell him to relay its on the bottom. FYI, I eat this salad 2x a week and showed him it wasn't on there before he went back to the kitchen. He goes back same result. He just starts walking around the restaurant avoiding us.Then who I assuming is a young female shift manager comes over and ask if there is a problem. I explained the situation and how I never dreamed I'd be arguing over cheese dip that's supose to be on my food and how ridiculous it was! She then proceeded to tell me how my salad is made when I stopped her because I order this dish very often. Instead of just getting the two tablespoons of cheese dip, she offered to send back my salad and make a new one which made zero sense The waste from throwing my modify salad away literally cost 3x more than two tablespoons of cheese dip. My family was already halfway through their meal so why would I do that??? I explained to her I'd use the remainder of the cheese dip I paid for and would be back. Then proceeded to ask her was the 30 mins arguing over cheese dip really nessary when I showed it wasn't there?! I told her if they needed to be that unprofessional and petty that we absolutely will take our business elsewhere. I was seriously embarrassed for the restaurant. If you can't provide your customer with what they pay for which you provide on your own menu then you probably need to change your menu. Not to mention if your restaurant is in so much trouble that you litterally cause a scene of two tablespoons of cheese dip you should probably evaluate your business practices. How embarrassing and...
Read moreI have been meaning to try this place for awhile, so I decided to meet my brother and dad here for dinner as I was dropping them off at the airport the next morning. It was very underwhelming. When we first got there they dropped off the chips and salsa to the table. The salsa was a weird texture and spicier than any restaurant salsa I've ever had. Additionally, they also had some sort of weird mayonnaise dish you were supposed to dip your chips in as well that was not good, and made no sense paired with chips. I ordered the chimichangas with shredded beef, but when they brought it out it had ground beef, which I am not fan of. The plate also did not come with any vegetables, lettuce, sour cream, or pico de gallo, just rice and beans, which I thought was strange. When I ordered a chicken chimichanga plate to-go for my husband and asked for those things to be added, they charged me an extra $4.00 or so and a .50 cent to-go fee, which added up to about $14.00 for a mediocre meal you could get for $8.00-$9.00 at any other Mexican restaurant. Not only that, but the service was very slow all night. I think it took between 30-45 minutes to get our food, and about 15 to get our check once we asked for it, which is unusual for a Mexican restaurant. Overall, I was very disappointed and will not be...
Read moreThis review is of the new, South Charleston location.
Both the property and atmosphere were exceptionally clean, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. The staff in general, and our waitress specifically were very friendly, cheerful, prompt and professional.
The food was delicious, although I do have a few comments to make.
The perfect, standard chips and salsa were served with another white colored dip that was very nice and I look forward to enjoying again.
My standard first dish for any Mexican restaurant would be the beef nachos. The meat was very, very enjoyable at first, however midway through my dish I felt the seasoning was a bit dominating and made the plate hard to finish.
Along with that, I had the pico de gallo and guacamole on the side. The pico was a bit bland and watery, while the guacamole was the standard taste and texture served at many of the Mexican eating establishments in the greater Charleston area.
Overall, the food was very tasty and had a mouth watering presentation. I look forward to returning to Rocas to try something else on the menu.
However, there is another sheriff in town and his name is Plaza Maya.
Would I pass Plaza Maya to get to Rocas? Definitely one more time, but a third time is...
