Went to Aladdin tonight with my son and husband at Starplex AMC because they were the only theatre to have a showing at 7:30pm versus much later. $21 for tickets and $19 for snacks. I am not one to publicly complain or review a business unless it is a complete positive ... but, in this case, with as poor of condition the theatre was, I feel the need to leave a review. The theatre was very warm, when my son sat down in his seat he put his hand in something slimy and sticky, and there is no way the theatre had been cleaned anytime recently - it was so bad that my feet stuck to the floor anywhere I walked and there was food everywhere. For an evening out with my boys, I expect for $40 that the managers/owners could at the very least provide a clean environment with temps cooler and more pleasant than we experienced. All told, I was very disappointed and kindly told the Manager as such - prefacing our conversation that I wasn’t telling him of my concerns and issues to get something for free. And even before the movie started, I talked with him and at least asked that the air be turned down - which he said he would adjust, but the theatre was warm the whole movie likely because of the high humidity outside, which would have taken the theatre much more time than our movie to cool down. Very disappointing, and I will plan to take my family elsewhere...
Read moreEver since AMC theaters has taken over this location it has extremely gone downhill . First of all the staff Does not look happy about the change and always seem to be in a negative state of mind . I currently went to a movie in the previous showing still had food wrappers popcorn on the floor . The only reason why am giving it a one star rating is that the presentation and sound is good . Also if you plan to see a movie with someone under the age of 17 and you are over the age of 21 you better be a parent or and I quote a legal guardian of the person under the age of 17 . Now I don't necessarily disagree with this policy but what I disagree with is I'm over the age of 21 years old and I am a guardian of the person under the age of 17. When you go to their corporate website it says nothing about legal guardian it just says a guardian 21 years of age or older . So let me give you a perfect example let's just say you are a uncle over the age of 21 years old trying to bring your niece who is 16 into a movie that is rated R they will not let you do that . No other theater corporation breaks the Hollywood ratings standards like AMC . This is unfortunate because 4 to 5 years ago when I moved to Normal Il I thought this was the better theater . My suggestion is to check out the other competition in town...
Read moreTonight had the worst experience with the most arrogant, rude, just nasty human being. Kelly the GM of this theater locked the doors on us 10mins after the movie started and her and her staff ignore my family asking to come in and refused to refund our tickets. She then was again rude and unprofessional on the phone and refused to give her name or any information to help us retrieve new tickets or refund and hung up on us. When they were locking the doors as the saw us walking in the parking lot towards the door in the rain..they also locked the doors on a kid probably 15yrs old who was dropped off there and now stuck in a dark rainy parking lot alone with no ride. They were absolutely horrible to all of us. They knew they had our money so there was no reason to help us or treat us with respect. It was disgusting. I've been a customer for years in the Chicago area..I WILL NEVER COME TO THIS THEATER AGAIN OR ANYONE I KNOW. we want new tickets or a refund or we will be done with AMC for good. You need to get better people in your theaters that understand customer service and just doing the right thing. Managers teaching employees how to be rude and unprofessional is not acceptable. So...
