Fairview Park — Attraction in Normal

Took our kids to the pool for the first time and they had an amazing time. Everything was clean and the staff was polite. Unfortunately, our day was ended early due to a storm but we'd been there for 3 hours already anyway. I would like to compliment the staff on how they handled some unpleasant guests, the uncertainty of whether the pool would reopen, and their adherence to their published policies. Only downside to the pool was following the rules against outside food and drunk and watching others open large coolers. Oh well.

The playground area was also clean and appeared to be well maintained. My son, a baseball fanatic, hopes he gets to play a game on the field...

So last year I was disappointed, the pool itself was dirty and there was goose poop in there, which was apparently not a problem for anyone? It is much cleaner this year, but I have to say, we showered in the locker rooms and discovered that when a toilet flushed, scalding water comes out of the shower head. It happened each time and the water was honestly so hot, it actually left a burn mark on my 8 y/o granddaughter. I said something when I left, just to let them know, and their concern was non-existent. I did not expect an emergency call made, but if I had been holding an infant when that happened? Handicapped parking and port-a-poddies. Plenty of seating to watch b ball games. Skate and skate boarding park. Very nice. Small dog enclosure to let your fogs run about. I see it has a concession stand, but I've not seen it open unless the mens softball leagues are playing. Very well maintained. Clean, plenty of parking. Walking areas to the fields are paved. Easy to get about. Great place to take the kiddos or grand kids too. Play area at the west end of the parking lot. Slides, climbing, walking...
