Enjoyed the food, service was great. We absolutely loved the pork carnitas and the portion was large, filling and cooked to perfection. I always judge a Mexican restaurant by their meat entrees, tamales and chile relleno. The tamale was fantastic. The meat inside was properly spiced/marinated and the ratio of masa to meat was good. The chili relleno was good, but had a lot of breading that was thick. Also had a weird sweetness to it and I prefer more of the light egg was breading rather than a thick batter. The enchilada was ground beef and was pretty good. Rice and beans were both good. Not too dry on the rice and beans were not runny, so that is good. The dessert list was long and difficult to chose from but we were carb loading so we chose the Flan (excellent!), the sopapillas (okay but a little overcooked) and the one that stole the show is the Changa! I had to Google this before ordering to know what it was... it is literally deep fried cheesecake. Absolutely delicious!! Just order them and you won't be disappointed! Mexican Cheesecake Chimichangas is another way to describe these although they are just listed as Changas on the menu.

Overall the experience was hit and miss. The staff were friendly and mostly attentive (until the end when we wanted to pay the bill). The salsa for the table wasn't my favorite and the outdoor seating was nice but the flies were rough (I know this is hard to control, but it really affects the experience). The food was very reasonablely priced. Though, as a vegetarian I was a little bit underwhelmed, as I often am, with the idea of a Tortilla filled with cheese being a meal lol. I think there are more creative ways to cater to a population that often seeks out Mexican food because it is so easy to make veg. The highlight of the entire night was the mango marg which was probably the best one I've had in town yet and it was half price on Thursday which makes it even more worth it. It felt strong to me! I might try this place one more time, but I'm more inclined to only do drinks and apps next time.

This place is not the typical American "Mexican" restaurant. I can't speak as to its authenticity, as the only food I ate when I was in Mexico was a turkey sandwich provided by a bus tour co (we were on a cruise excursion to Tulum). 😅, but we really enjoyed the different choices at Mexa Maya from the other places in town. I was a little unsure of the location, as restaurants don't seem to last long in that area, but I really did enjoy the restaurant and I hope it's there for the long term. Guac was really good, but contains raw onions, in case you are sensitive to that. Service was relatively quick, considering there was a birthday party of 45 starting up whole we were there. We'll definitely be back.

Went into this place alone with the idea of getting nachos to go. Was greeted by a young female. I told her I want some nachos to go but wanted to try a Texas margarita. Sat at the bar a guy came over to make my Texas margarita, he put all of the ingredients except one; the tequila. He attempt to put tequila but it was only a half of an half ounce. I asked, will you put 1 1/2 to 2 oz tequila in the drink. He started talking Spanish to another Hispanic guy and they charged me extra for a shot the guy was supposed to put in the drink. Now I am waiting on my nachos. It took them twenty minutes to make nachos and the place was empty. After twenty five minutes of waiting, the nachos came out and she did not bring my food to me at the bar she took it to the register by the entrance. I went to pay for my food and the bill was twenty dollars. I got charged for an extra shot of tequila, when it was supposed to be in the drinkplus 8.75 for a supreme nacho with no meet. Well my first experience here will not bring me back nor tell anyone about this place Hey, guys thanks for making me feel unwelcome! I hope you do better with the next group or single African American. They spend...

We stopped for dinner while driving through. A family of 6 with young children. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful as we tried to avoid allergens. We ordered beef natchos supreme, taco salad (minus the shell), and Pollo Yucatan. We received a standard, appetizer of chips and salsa. The tortilla chips were crisp, but the salsa tasted like salty V8 juice with sparingly chopped onion. The salad was sized like a side salad, but at a full salad price. The natchos supreme was surprisingly small as well, with the lettuce and sour cream toppings taking the primary stage over everything else. As my Pollo Yucatan sides, the rice was overcooked, on the verge of mush. The vegetables, chicken, cheese, and shrimp portion were well seasoned and tasted good. Overall, everyone said everything tasted bland. Spicy hot level 0 overall. My wife said the woman's restroom smelled unclean. We were happy to try something new, but wouldn't plan on coming back if we're in...
