I went to the high water festival there I think they are too pricey they sell their tickets out the first two days and sell them in bulk to resellers. I got ripped off on some tickets it looks so real and had a confirmation number and all but the tickets weren't any good. High water needs to sell some tickets to the community at the box office like they did last year. Our community has to put up with all that traffic and there's no way that we can buy tickets and be safe in buying them. I think our water is a little greedy when it comes to that sell all of our tickets the first two days to whoever wants to buy in bulk and let them deal with it. There was a nice box office crowd Sunshine Jason and a few others helped us but I had to repurchase tickets with their bogus tickets it was nothing I can do. I have to go through Ticketmaster resale to get the Right tickets. But I think that is a big No-No to high water it's all about the money with them they do not leave any tickets for any of the Charleston community when they come to an event here I think they should put it aside some for the people who have to put up with all the traffic and the hoopla of all the mess, the concert was very good the food was very good the people were friendly but they should hold some tickets for the Charleston community if they are going to put on events there they sell out too quick. They sell tickets in bulk so others can resell them and make a bigger profit that should be a big No-No they should at least keep some for the people at the box office they did last year I think it's just greed.. the parking and the getting out of the parking lot was The nightmare over 2 hours people walking around didn't know where to go they didn't have a good handle on people leaving. People were walking trying to find Ubers. it was a nightmare. No sleep because there was no one really here from this area not too many they were all from out of town because they sold the tickets in bulk I think they should hold some for the Charleston community when they come to our riverfront Park. I'm just saying that would have been the right thing to do and then there would have been some local help to help those poor people showing them which way to go with most of them were out of town there's and it was like the blind leading the blind. But the concert was...
Read moreI love this place! This is a very historical old Navy base. When I was in the military, we would come here because of the location right on the water. Now that it is closed, they have done a great job of reusing the spaces and refurbishing and leasing the big beautiful old homes that used to house military officers .
It’s a beautiful place to walk and have lots of family fun. There are lots of trees, but because it’s so big many of the spaces are not shaded
It is easy to get to plenty of parking and beautiful views of the riverfront. Many times and I have come for local, concerts, cultural festivals and events.
Nice, walking and jogging trails. There is a nice fishing pier, a few small benches, a covered picnic area with tables and a few small barbecue grills. It might be smart to bring your own portable chair if you would like to sit closer to the water.
The dog park is hidden in the back near the children’s play area. Not a lot of grass in that area but the upkeep seems to be OK. Doggy resource bags available.
My only complaint is that the mosquitoes out here are horrible. I’ve been living in the area for a long time, but this is the only place I always get bitten by a variety of bugs I cannot identify constantly . Make sure you have plenty of bug spray.
Lots of greenery,. Children’s play area is very nice and has lots of activity sections. There’s even a sprinkler area for kids to get run through upfront near the military memorial section.
Right at the front there is a restaurant called Momo’s. The food is extremely good and the service is amazing.
If you come on the right day, you may see dolphins in a few interesting looking cargo ships.
Parking is everywhere. They just opened a new bridge in the back near the picnic area. If you are able to find this entrance it is easier and faster to get into the park. Again, don’t forget the bug spray.
You can make a whole day of...
Read moreRiverfront Park is so cool. It’s a great venue - but it’s more than that, event venue is its side hustle. It’s just a wonderful space. Love the new pedestrian bridge to the shady warehouse district - think it might get tight if it’s used to leave a large concert.
The grounds are immaculately kept. Three flowering vines I couldn’t even identify.
Explore the old naval base. The unmaintained officers quarters are just as interesting as the Admirals house.
Usually lots of folks fishing off one of the piers or the jettys.
If you’re a newb, you have to walk the naval shipyard monument - it’s a 10m read - but it’s cool.
Just be, it’s usually very peaceful. Try to forget the times you almost had a heat stroke at Open Water or a Reggae concert in August.
(when is the city going to decide what to do with derelict warehouses??? )
(When is the city going to finally decide what to do with the naval base grounds - so much potential and it’s been like FIFTEEN...
