Usually not a fan of the trendy, eclectic Taco spots and prefer authentic Mexican places, but Rebel Taqueria did not disappoint. Lunch on Saturday 7/20/24.
Order at the counter, grab a number and sit at a table. Drinks ordered at the Bar. They will keep a tab for you based on your number. Don’t remember if they brought the Food or I had to pick it up. Either way, essentially self serve/self bus which I’m becoming a huge fan of.
We had the Chips and Queso, Quesa Birria Combo and Ground Beef Chorizo Quesadilla. Food was incredible.
The Tortilla Chips are well seasoned with lime, salt and pepper which provides way more flavor than your standard Tortilla Chips. Very good, Queso was average.
Birria had great flavor and the consumé was tasty. Quesadilla was on point and very good. There is a Sauce Bar with three different types of Hot/Taco Sauce for your Tacos, Chips, etc. All were very good, but the Green Sauce was fabulous. Sweet, tropical but a good heat.
Didn’t get it, but there was a Fish Sandwich special that looked absolutely amazing.
Apologize for the quality of pictures as it’s rather dark in there. Atmosphere is your typical trendy style for these new places popping up in that area of North Charleston.
Kinda pricey, but average for a spot like that in the area.
Would 100% recommend and will return as there are plenty of other options I want to try...
Read moreThis place is fantastic. My bartender Zach had great suggestions and is just an all-around smiley, likable person. The other bartender who was working was equally helpful and upbeat but I regrettably didn't end up catching her name (long dark hair, very beautiful). We were here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed, we just popped in because we were visiting the thrift store nearby. My fiancé got the fish taco which he liked and I got the black garlic wings which were PHENOMENAL. Someone else who was also really nice (who seemed like he may have been the owner or GM) commented on my fiancé's Tequila Arette shirt (pure coincidence he was wearing it today) and explained he loved the brand and was trying to acquire it but couldn't find a tequila rep who carried it. Great tequila and mezcal selection here. We were there for maybe 20-25 minutes (we had an appointment to get to) but this place made an impression on me and we will be back. I felt like I couldn't leave without leaving a review, great experience. Great original art and ambience also, and I saw a flyer for a Mario kart...
Read moreI’m not a local, I was just traveling here for work. My co worker had been to rebel taqueria previously and put me on to it. I visited the location on two separate occasions in a week. Kinda in a rough neighborhood but it felt more visual than physically threatening. It gives local dive bar feels for the atmosphere, both times I went the atmosphere was great, youthful college crowd, had Simpson’s and early 2000s pro wrestling on tv. I had two different bartenders. A girl from jersey (I didn’t get her name but she was very personable and just straight up rad) the gentleman if not the owner damn sure ran that place like he was. Very welcoming and very cool. The food was top notch. I got the pulled pork Barbacoa (taco fell apart cuz it was soggy from sauce) the crispy fries are to die for. I got the ground beef chorizo multiple times and it was my favorite. Honorable mentions I got the buttermilk chicken, mahi, pretty much every taco on the menu. Like I said I went 2 times. Each time I got 8-9 tacos. Fries. Soft drink. And two beers. Paid about $60 each time. 10/10 would go back....
