The owner of Miami Art Society, JP Sanchez Williams, is incredibly unprofessional, not communicative and leaves local artists in precarious situations. It's a miracle he is still in the industry and I would recommend going to another gallery that actually supports artists.
When a close friend and colleague worked with him, and hired him for a gallery space (something she had paid for and organized 6 months before). Then he completely stopped responding and told her two days before the show that he did not want to pay rent for the space and she would have to do the show somewhere else (it later turned out he had rented the space to a scooter store and knew at least a month in advance that he was leaving her out to dry). He never apologized for the incident, was incredibly unprofessional the entire time. He caused his client to lose money, time and deeply affected the exposition she had been working on for more than a year.
I helped out on the exhibition and witnessed the incredible stress it caused his client/my colleague. I was appalled at the lack of professionalism and blatant lack of respect for another person who was working with him in good faith. I recommend not working with him nor supporting...
