I have always enjoyed coming to The Meadows. The nearly 2 hour drive has never been a problem compared to the quality of entertainment I received while here. But tonight's issue has left me with a bitter taste for the future of coming here. Allow me to explain the situation and judge for yourself.
Upon entering the building security has the option of checking your ID or if you meet their visual requirements allowing you to pass through. Although I was not ask, since it was in my hand I offered my ID. (Big mistake on my part) Since my last visit they have installed a new system. For whatever reason the machine would not read my ID, and no one knew what it was reading anyway. Therefore I was declined entry. Now I understand the need to keep out underage and illegal people. I politely ask if I could clean the ID thinking that possibly dirt or something on it was the reason. I was again declined. They did tell me a concealed carry, passport, or military ID was accepted. Unfortunately I don't carry a gun, and was unable to serve in the military. Discouraged but still maintaining my manners I ask if possible to see someone in upper management and with my Ohio drivers license, players club card, 4 different credit cards, my work business card, and 3 other cards all containing my name and some my address would be sufficient with a visual verification by management. Again I was declined even the chance.
Now as I stated, I received no assistance in trying to get the failure of their machine reconciled and corrected. Since I am 37 years old and plenty look my age, with the fact I was not ask to present ID, along with the many other name bearing items I had in my possession (including The Meadows card) I find it very hard to say that they did their best to assist me with the issue of the machine failing.
Normally I don't waste my time to write a bad review of a place I normally enjoy. But the 2 hour drive home isn't going to be filled with the memories of the good time I had at The Meadows. I believe that with a little more effort and acceptance of the obvious more could have been done to fix the issue. Not sure if I'll ever be returning to my once favorite card room. I guess I have a 2 hour drive to debate it to myself.
Sincerely, A man looking for a new card room to spend...
Read moreI had not been to The Meadows in a few years and now that I have been under this new branding I don't think I'll be returning. I am near another casino and I used to drive past it to come to The Meadows because of the atmosphere. I understand it's a pandemic but the atmosphere is starkly different of the casino of past. There was no excitement in the air and everyone seemed unhappy. The only person who barely gave me a smile was the young man at the players club who gave me a new card.
And the food.... I wish I could give less than 1 star. I used to go to the food court with a friend that was working in the oil field so that we could have some fun on his day off and loved it. Now it is sadly a different experience.
I went to the Wok/Grill today and paid almost $30 for an entrée(what ws supposed to be beef and broccoli), rice, "Philly cheesesteak" egg roll, and a drink. This meal was worth about $8 at best. The "chef" cooking had a noticeable attitude with the cashier because she was asking questions as guests asked questions. And I just watched his overall disposition as orders were coming (and this was around dinner time) and it was like he was being bothered.
His attitude came through in his presentation/cooking. The beef and broccoli was barely stir fried, and in fact my broccoli was closer to raw than cooked. The "garlic sauce" used was not cohesive. The portion of the beef/broccoli portion was less than what you get as a children's entree at chain Asian fast food restaurant (I won't name it but it's named after an animal express). The rice portion was ok. The "egg roll" were like mini pizza rolls. There were no scallions like the description and I almost didn't get the spicy Mayo until I asked. And once again the cashier had to ask the chef and he had an attitude and snarled back at her that 'it should be up there somewhere"
Honestly the food court experience is what sealed the deal for me that makes me not want to come back. I'm quite sad that the service has...
Read moreThe casino has evolved quite a bit over the years to a very large racetrack/gaming and entertainment center. It's still quite popular even though it's amenities peaked years ago . It's fast food choices dont offer much variety with a coffee shop ,Chinese food without Chinese people, pizza shop and American diner all opening late and closing early. The buffet was killed after covid and did not return was the best spot to eat there . The sports bar / sports betting area now takes the too spot where the sports fan will be totally enthralled with state of the art coverage in HD. The steakhouse has outstanding fare and worth a visit. The racetrack is underrated and it seems like it's time is fading but a night at the track is like no other it's not the instant gratification of a slot machine but was the heart of gambling culture for many years. I hope it maintains for many more to come. Top rated acts are booked regularly in their concert hall just check the bill regularly to find out who's coming to town. The bowling center here is the only family friendly spot here check what times it is open. The only sore spot is the gaming floor which is very dated and in serious need of a remodel. The older machines outnumber the new by alot where The Rivers and Live casinos gaming floors have much more comfortable seating, bright, active and always feature the latest games where here its dark and subdued like a downtown Vegas joint of the 70s. The tables are for high rollers where bet minimums are to pricy for normal people to play. The penn play club is the same way as well , if you don't gamble every day it won't add up to comps the way it used too. Casino comps were way better before Hollywood...
