Laniakea Beach is a must-see if you're in the Haleiwa area. It's a fantastic place to connect with nature, enjoy the stunning North Shore scenery, and witness the beauty of Hawaii's marine life.

Laniakea Beach, located on Oʻahu’s North Shore near Haleiwa, is a beautiful and popular spot known for its golden sands, crystal-clear waters, and the frequent sightings of Hawaiian green sea turtles (honu).

The beach itself is relatively small and can get crowded, especially during peak tourist season, but the opportunity to see the turtles makes it worth the visit.

Parking can be a challenge, as the area is quite popular, but a short walk from your car leads you to this picturesque beach. The waves here are typically calm, making it a great spot for swimming and snorkeling, although it's important to be mindful of the turtles and give them...

Under other circumstances, I would normally rank this beach itself as five stars, simply because it is THE place to observe the turtles sunbathing.

A member of our party had limited mobility, so areas of improvement could include: pedestrian paths on either side of the road; a bus stop within a short distance of the crosswalk; a man-made stairway down to the beach close to the crosswalk (though if you walked far enough west on the north side of the road, there is one route which might suffice for some, but not for us); and, possibly, a restroom and a vendor, if longer stays were to be accommodated.

On the other hand, discouraging longer stays might be necessary in order to cycle traffic through this popular landmark.

The other viewers on the beach were honoring the turtles, giving them...

If you want to see sea turtles and incredible sunsets this is the place to go. The sea turtles often come up on this beach to rest. We visited this beach 3 times and all 3 times we saw turtles. They do have a rope around the turtles so nobody disturbs them and a park ranger there to answer questions about the turtles. This was a highlight of our Hawaii...

You need to get creative with or be extremely lucky with parking. Amazing views of sea turtles sunning themselves between 11 am and 1 pm. Must do when on the North Shore. Great beach for swimming and snorkeling.
